Quest 3 if you have the budget. Pico 4 best overall for it's price, just sad for its unknown future also still only available in Europe and Asia. PSVR2 if you don't have a powerful PC but have PS5 and wish to play beautiful games. Note: You will have to take a break every 4 or so hours to recharge the PSVR2 controllers, good to keep in mind if sharing the headset or being a big time gamer.

Nice round up. I have a Quest 2 and 3. Quest 3 is definitely a nice step up and feels more refined. The improved sharpeness has been huge for me as I even can be productive in VR via apps like Immersed as text is readable. Now just need more apps to roll out Quest 3 updates to take advantage of the faster chip.

One big elephant in the room she failed to mention about PCVR is Quest 3 supports occlusion and you can select areas to place over graphic elements really amazing with Microsoft Flight Sim. and DCS World. Someone I know has a simpit with flight controls and instrument cluster and it looks amazing in DCS World. He videotape the experience before he used to use to HD short throw projectors and the image quality was amazing.

@asawyer2872 if affordable. Currys have done the quest 2 as low as £199 recently. £500 is simply out of reach or too much for an early tech for huge amounts of people. At 200-250 the quest 2 has loads of life left, an extensive catalogue of software and a low barrier to entry. The quest 3 has touched £400 recently and that is a good price which if sustained would really be good value

Thank you so much, ma'am! I've been researching for about 4 hours now and this video paired with some of the other things prior to watching has helped me a lot! The Bigscreen Beyond does sound like a great choice especially with the small form factor, 1 of 1 craftsmanship, not to mention OLED display, but, I think I'll be going with the Meta Quest 3 even though it's LCD and has a not so satisfying battery life. I'm a first time buyer so this to me would be an obvious choice. It's said that the Quest 3 is better than the Quest 2 while also needing the debate of whether it's better than a Valve Index (which seems to be 50/50). I like the idea of not being tethered in and being able to use the Meta Quest 3 as sort of like a multi tool if you will. It also has Steam Link which is a huge plus!

I'm not in the VR world yet, but this was a helpful summery. I was starting to consider getting myself a VR headset, but it looks to me like they are still to much of a financial investment and not advanced as far as I would personally enjoy yet. maybe this year a new VR device will come out that looks like what I've been waiting for, and then maybe another year the price will be down a bit and not too unreasonable. but likely another 3 or 4 years wait for me unfortunately.

I've never gotten into Quest headsets, the faceplate and IPD has always been too small. I'd like the Bigscreen Beyond, but they don't make it with an IPD of 75mm. I have a HP Reverb G2, gave it to one of my daughters, it also had an IPD and faceplate that was too small. I've had the Vive and Vive Pro, the light houses and controllers still work after 6 years, and I have a Pimax 8KX with Index controllers and a new PC with a RTX4080, I'm pretty happy with this set up. I have a PSVR2, very impressed with it, since it has an IPD range of 58 to 75mm, foveated rendering and eye tracking, if this came in a PC VR headset, I would consider upgrading, and it is cheaper than PC VR. There is no proposed or current PC VR headset on my shopping list, I might be interested in the Quest 3, but it is too expensive in Australia. I'm going to wait for some more VR advancements and for manufacturers to make one that goes to 75mm IPD.

I don't have any VR/AR experience yet and I'm completely new to this area, which is why I'm overwhelmed by the amount of glasses on offer. So I hope you can give me some advice. I'm looking for a pair of glasses that I can use as Mixed reality glasses when I'm sitting comfortably on the couch, want to watch a movie, but also have the mobility to go to the kitchen and continue watching my movie (just as an example). Or should I say to do my work while cooking? Yeah, sounds more professional 😂 But as a typical PC gamer, it should also be able to serve as VR glasses with good resolution and sufficient viewing distance. Perhaps I should say at this point that I enjoy playing Star Citizen, so I'm really spoiled when it comes to graphic details. So I am looking for something that can actually do everything and has good performance, but most glasses always have a handicap such as a closed ecosystem and therefore cannot be used for other games or just that the resolution or hardware is generally weak. Can you think of any glasses that are currently worth recommending? Or should I wait and see what other glasses will be available in 2024? A big thank you in advance and greetings from Germany

I personally want to step away from Meta/Quest, although with the release of Steam Link it might perform better than it used to I just think I value the Lighthouse Tracking, Controllers and direct DisplayPort Connection over what the Quest 3 has to offer. Yes is has more Resolution and "more FOV" (2 degrees more) but i still think i'll have an awesome time with the Index. Any Thoughts?
@darkmaster21108 ай бұрын
The Index is still a good headset, but with its age and current price tag, many seem to not recommend it anymore. It's hard to recommend for $1000 compared to other headsets at the same price now. If they were to drop the price to a more realistic $600-$700 max, it would be easier to recommend in 2024.
@MauroDaDrox8 ай бұрын
@@darkmaster2110 for me price wasn't an issue, the index fits my needs better than the quest 3, but for someone that has to work with a budget, I can understand why someone would go for the quest 3 instead. I have a $400 paper weight that Meta refuses to fix even though they say my new computer should not be a problem. There is like a 7 step process every time you want to quest link with steam even when wired. also the quest and your PC use internet connection separately so while your PC maybe connected via ethernet you will still be playing through wifi and if your headset loses connection it will kick you out of quest link and steam VR even when wired. Very complex and counter intuitive software and one of the most frustrating things to deal with. I don’t know if it’s just me, but the Steam VR update has done wonders for wireless PCVR for me. Not only does Steam Link work very well, Virtual Desktop is performing better! I have a decent gaming laptop (Ryzen 9 5980HX, RX 6800M) and I stopped playing PCVR due to hiccups. I tried it again because of Steam Link, and I swear it’s improved. Anyone else experience the same? Maybe it’s just a placebo, but please let me know!
@guymcfly72828 ай бұрын
I believe Steam Link utilizes the feature that pixelates areas of the screen around your peripheral to increase performance. That may have much to do with it.
@nintendoconvert40458 ай бұрын
@@guymcfly7282 it does do that- it’s foveated encoding. Foveated rendering would help PC performance, but foveated encoding helps with bandwidth / connectivity. It’s possible my hiccups were mostly wireless bandwidth issues and maybe Steam Link alleviated that. Going back to VD, the hiccups are still there for me- so my initial thought about being improved might have been circumstantial. Steam Link, however, is smoother every time so far. I have a Quest Pro with eye tracking, so the foveated encoding isn’t even noticeable like it would be on a Quest 3. This might be the best wireless option for QP owners. Tip I saw somewhere: for a better image in Steam Link, disable the Advanced Supersample Filtering - it makes the image look too soft. But, if you don’t have a headset with eye tracking, the foveated encoding might be a dealbreaker regardless of the Advanced Supersample Filtering.

As someone who only plays PCVR, I use a Pico 4 Pro which has face tracking (cuz im a vtuber lol) and the clarity is pretty dam good and while i had lots of wifi connection issues with Virtual Desktop, Pico just uses its own PC connection program that has no lag even in areas with less wifi (which was a problem I had with my quest 2 for literal years before I got Pico 4 Pro) and all my trackers work in my setup!

"it will take time to make paying $200 more worth it." for the quest 3. True. For now. This is a tech product. The quest 3 costs more today, because it's better than the quest 2. Simple. Quest 2 can be purchased on the used market for $150. Don't buy it new. Quest pro is better than quest 3 for people who wanna use xr for productivity, rather than gaming. But for general mixed use, quest 3 is king at all the current price point

Only problem with Quest is if someone decides to report you as underaged, you no longer have a VR... Meta doesn't provide support to fix it either. They don't have cases or tickets, just a webform contact with no promises. You then have to upload your government issued photo ID to get it back. But even then, that doesn't work. If you have a child, good luck. Check out the support forums to find out for yourself. It's getting worse, and kids love to report people as under aged, it's fun to do because it's like being a little hacker. Sony VR seems like the only reasonable option for someone who just wants to have a little fun and isn't into VR as a full-fledged enthusiast/hobby.

Like and respect your review, but not the in-video advertisement.....too much advertising in this world and do not trust any review that accepts money from a manufacturer. P
