Your spreadsheets rock! I do consider myself a bit of a radio nerd, yet I’m also aware that my knowledge is virtually nothing compared to some real radio enthusiasts! Radio is super important. I earned my ham license a few years ago and have only looked at ham-band radios… never even learned about these FRS options. They seem quite capable and awesome considering the lack of needing a license! This video is fantastic. Can’t ask for more of a quality test! The Rocky Talkie would definitely interest me but honestly these all have their perfect audiences.

I think I’m 12 weeks ahead with uploads lol… it can be hard at times to not just make videos public but I like having the cushion of time in case of emergency (such as when my dog and I were attacked by another dog last weekend and I ended up getting the tip of my pinky nearly bitten off and had to get my dog stitched up). It happens! The backlog of videos helps, though. My setup basically consists of just a couple BF-F8HP radios with a decent amount of accessories. I’ve wanted the Alinco DR-735T as a base-station setup for a while, so that may happen but honestly I’m impressed with what can be done with a couple of Baofengs with the right knowledge and accessories!

Midland GXT walkie-talkies are the best on the market. Given the fact that they have a 36 mile range with line of sight, and in the woods, or in the city, you can get between 5 and 10 miles. These are the only radios that I trust to take Hunting with me when I go to Colorado in the back mountains.

Back in 2009 Kentucky was hit by a massive ice storm. And nobody had a way to charge their cellphones. I turned my walkie talkie on spanning and heard a guy talking about he had a generator and would be happy to charge cell phones. They definitely have a place for shtf.

Each Cobra RX680 has a covered micro usb port on the side that can be used to charge individually. The cradle isn't the only way to charge, and therefore the included cradle is actually a benefit.

No they all pretty much operate on the same 22 FRS frequencies so you can mix and match between different brands and shouldnt have any issues.

I like the oxbow renagade 2.0 is my fave.. But I like the small size of the moico or however it's spelled... you should do one on gmrs radios that come in blister packs... I can't really find anything online that showcases all the different kinds of gmrs styled radio I like gmrs cuz the license easy (and cheaper now).. Plus that 5 watt really helps get you out there.. I tend to look for something that can travel about 5 miles from handy talky to Handy talky... something that's kid friendly... yeah they have the baofeng pro and other types like that for gmrs radios that are awesome but they cost too much and I've always found the blister pack gmrs radios to be a better value especially when most of them come with c-type charging or micro charging which is a bonus to me at least... anyways I'm a ham radio operator but it's alway nice to have a set of frs radios (don't have any yet).. excellent work! i like the retevis model. You might let the rt 47v models that use MURS VHF frequencies at 2watts out and also you can connect external and different antennas to them for better range. Good testing! Recommend you grab a ham license and try ham radio just to see the difference in infrastructure and range. One skip type day i can use my 2meter fm radio to talk several hundered miles away. If you are willing the older motorola ht1000s are also nice to have if you can program them. Thanks again!

Might make a video comparing some of those in the future. My understanding is that you just pay a license fee and then you can use UHF/VHF for 10 years. Yes they can all talk to eachother as long as they are set to the same channel. They all have 1-22 FRS channels which would work. Some of the models also have additional channels as well.
