We have another anti-cold dessert, it's called saging con yelo (literally bananas on ice). It's saba (cardava) bananas, the one used for bananacue in evaporated milk and caramel sauce and topped in ice with small tapioca balls

Mixing and eating halo-halo is an art form. First, reduce the amount that would overflow by eating from the top. Then dig the spoon deep down to the bottom. Next, start swirling the spoon around the bottom to liquefy the bottom components without disturbing the ice above. Then start churning the spoon up and down and breaking the ice chunks into smaller pieces. Bring the slush from the bottom to push the ice down and make it melt. Finally you can mix all the ingredients thoroughly into a well-mixed, half-melted slush that you can then start eating. By the way, find a branch of Aling Banang's Filipino restaurant. Their halo-halo special is P80 but so full of ingredients.

Icebergs Restaurant is our family's go-to dessert place after Church back in the 80s. Their original branch is in Tomas Morato in "Quigon" City. Love the ambiance there as it's like an American diner. Good to know the resto has not lost its delectable servings. You should try their mais con hielo next time. Hearts to your RVs!

Have you tried Ben's Halo-halo? Pretty sure you'll like it because they're known for using very fine ice shavings, making their halo-halo very smooth & slushy.

Little Quiapo still hands down! If you go out to the provinces but not the touristy places, you can pick n choose the ingredients you want in your halo halo. An option to halohalo - maiz con hielo, guinumis

I find you guys funny here. I like the way you rated the halo halo in every store you visited. What I do usually when eating halo halo is I eat the ube ice cream first. I don't mix it with the rest of the ingredients.

Chowking is pretty middle-of-the-road in my opinion. Kuya J is less halo-halo and more Xue Hua Bing (雪花冰). Mang Inasal is, more often than not, solidly on the mid-tier like Chowking, but for some weird reason they are inconsistent, some branches make them better, like their ice is better crushed or the milk they use is somewhat creamier, warranting a point to a point and a half over mid. Sadly, we don't have Iceberg in our area and haven't tried any. Lastly, Razon's (of Guagua) is a much simpler halo-halo experience, it lacks variety when it comes to ingredients. I prefer their KLM (Keso, Langka & Mais a.k.a. Cheese, Jackfruit & Corn) over their halo-halo. The other Razon's (by Glenn) has Mais con Leche and Ube Macapuno and I also prefer those over their halo-halo. Overall, this is a great video, I'm glad you could give us your insights on our beloved national summertime dessert. Keep up the good fracking work biscuit bois!

I never tried Iceberg since they don’t have a branch where I live. I like Razon’s (and Ben’s) halo halo. I like that the ice is finely shaved and slush like. It’s easier to eat for my sensitive teeth 😁 But nothing beats the halo halo sold on streets 😁 you can even choose your “toppings” even the amount of ice and milk. You seldom get ice cream though, but you get real ube in it 😄

summertime is halohalo time in every neighbohood hée. the bestvones have grated melons,, macapuno a kind of coconut. rice crispies called pinipig,saba, sweet potaoes, sago pearl in addition to the gelatin, leche flan, and ube halaya. they're way cheaper and you can ask the seller to please add more milk.😁

halo halo is one of my favorite . And I have sensitive teeth. The way I eat halo halo fist I eat the ingredients without ice. Before I finish the ingredients the ice already melted so I will drink it. And for mixing. Just mix it under.
