In Excel - not that I know of. Outside of Excel - there may be a way in your credit card app to schedule delivery of your statement every month?

Another fantastic presentation Pete. Suppose I also want to ID all transactions from a particular Activity such as a trip. Can we add and populate a column to group transactions together? Something like Travel-Paris-2023 that will survive re-querying. If not how do you suggest this be accomplished. I suppose I could add that as a column on the Original Spreadsheets as I prepare them for processing. Thoughts?

I ensured all the entries are in a date format, but I would not be able to see a filter option in my pivot table when the date field is set as a filter. Would you know where it is coming from ?

Good video! Question: When refunds appear on a credit card statements some are shown in a separate column like a bank statement (credits\debit column). While other credit card statements show a refund in the same column along with purchases but in a positive format while the purchases show as a negative (-) format. How can i merge these various credit card statements together? Thank you.

Pete, thanks for this - great stuff, but I am having an issue. My Visa card works and updates fine, however the Amex gives me an error when I pull in a new file (e.g. after a new month). I think that's because there is no header for the column and the file name is different. (for the Visa card, the data column does have a header, so no issues). Any thoughts to how to correct (or what I am doing incorrectly)?

The new files have to match the previous files for this method. So either you need to update the new files with the column names and naming convention or this won't work. There are ways to import data that comes in a different format each time but that's outside the scope of this video.

It’s a new formula only available through Office 365. You’ll have to use the remove duplicates function under “data” instead.

Are you trying to combine a PDF and an Excel file? What are the file types involved?

sounds like a number format issue. make sure everything is in the same column and all numbers are formatted as such.

You need consistent column header names. Based on the error you probably uploaded January first, then February, and February has a different header.

@@HowToAnalyst The headers are different. for one CC i had to add a new column Categories berceuse my statement didn't have that. I also had to change the column heading transaction date to just date. what do I need to do not to get the same error and be able to update monthly? thx - great video

@jackmasters4379 you need identical headers, changes like “transaction date” to “date” will generate an error. If your data doesn’t have “category” then don’t create a column for it, my 2 credit cards just happened to have it.
