Works well, for me the smallest door opening was still too much for only my two clowns, I put some tape across half the door to regulate it even more. Also hooked up my pumps to a smart plug controlled by Google home. Pumps turn off at 5:00 feeder is programmed at 5:01 then pumps back on at 5:03 worked like a champ. Cheap home automation for vacation or extended work hours.

Love these things. You can also do a little easy DIY to install a USB cable to trigger the feeder - this allows you to trigger a feed from Apex/GHL (so you can feed with the click of an app from anywhere around the world). The USB cable plugs into the powerbar with a standard adaptor. Trigger the powerbar switch for a 2 or 3 seconds. This triggers the feed, then the drum continues on battery to make sure it stops where it should.

Works great. Just make sure to test the opening several times before leaving it. I accidentally left mine open a little too much and came home 3 days later to a very cloudy tank. I thought I lost an anemone to a powerhead it was so bad. Lesson learned!

I find that the the feeding door locks on to either literraly 2 pellets or an entire week's worth of food, so I tape it in between the little groves to fine tune it.
@hawksight2004 жыл бұрын
that's what I had to do. I gave up on this feeder. it needs a redesign
@johnVidBozo4 жыл бұрын
@@hawksight200 I find the feeder very reliable but the door opening is not up to the quality of the rest of the unit. They really need to redesign the food door!. As others have said, tape is your friend.

yea but feeding like this, the pellet doesnt break the surface of the water. a fair amount of pellets enter the overflow. Not to mention my shrimps and bottom friends won't get to eat. How should I go about this?
@BRStv3 жыл бұрын
I suggest a feeding ring. This keeps any floating pellets at the water surface where the fish can find and eat the pellets before they go into the overflow. There are also some pellets that tend to sink more than others. I like the TDO Chroma Boost Small for most reef tanks using auto feeders. www.bulkreefsupply.com/tdo-chroma-boost-small-granule-fish-food-reef-nutrition.html

Can you program it to feed 1 time every 2-3 days?

Minimum feeding amount is one rotation per day.

Hey! Thanks for the vid! How long is the longest youve left home with this on? Ill need to travel for about 5-6 weeks and a sitter isnt an option, but im concerned about my dry pellets becoming spoilt as i live in a humid city+ the tank moisture. A friend should drop in once for a quick water change but that's about it so I'm trying to find a reliable product
@BRStv4 жыл бұрын
That's a great question. If the feeder is in a canopy, humidity can become an issue. Personally speaking, I don't have a canopy and only have to refill the feeder once every month or two, depending on how many rotations per day the feeder is set to go off. This feeder is a great option for when you have to go out of town for a few weeks at a time.

@@BRStv doesn't one of the Eheim feeders have a fan to blow away moist air so it doesn't spoil the food?
@cfl68363 жыл бұрын
Ok folks - how does this thing mount on a regular 75 gallon that has glass covers and lights? Only on back? This does not seem well thought out. Is there even enough clearance with wall?
@BRStv3 жыл бұрын
It depends on the tank manufacturer, but usually 75 gallon tank rims are just thin enough to use this feeder as long as you unscrew the thumb screw as far as it will go. Even so, it's a tight fit in most cases.
@isaaccordero87383 жыл бұрын
ok no am pm so if i set to 930 will it feed 930 in morning an at night????
@BRStv3 жыл бұрын
This feeder operates on a 24 hour clock, so if you want it to feed at 9:30 am and 9:30 pm, you'd have to set two separate feeding times. One for 9:30 and the other for 21:30.

these are not great. so many issue that if they redesigned could make a great feeder. the battery cover falls of so easily. not to mention how bad the food opening is.

Just show us how the damn thing works. We don't need a five-minute lecture on feeding fish, while listening to five minutes of background music and looking at you talk instead of looking at the feeder.
@KalaEsso11 ай бұрын
All of their videos are not only product specific but educational. Pro tip: If you want to stare at the feeder, just go buy one, film it spinning, loop it, and then you can just play it repeat forever and watch it all day.

This fish feeder is a rebranded aliexpress fish feeder, look it up if you don't believe me. A lot of products from big companies like Eheim do it these days, very sad to see.
@ThomasBReef4 жыл бұрын
Or is it the other way around? 🤔
@BenDover-ch4pm4 жыл бұрын
@@ThomasBReef Interesting point, something hard to disclose for sure. I do have a degree in product design and know a little something about Chinese product engineering, but it's still a guess. I still think there's a serious problem going on in the aquarium product industry. Even if it's the other way around it are still chinese products being sold for sometimes up to 10 times as much. It's basically a nuanced way of dropshipping and I could give an endless list of specific companies and products within the aquarium industry that do it.
@ThomasBReef4 жыл бұрын
@@BenDover-ch4pm My reason for thinking its the other way around, is the fact that the Eheim feeder has been around for decades already. The timeliness just makes more sense that way. But I do hear you on that front; lots of rebranding happens.
