4 to 6 months is excellent advice for sure. I'm coming up to 6 months at the end of this month (April '21) and thinner spots are covered more, hair is longer so it lies straighter and is easier to manage etc. Also the use of products is excellent advice too - oil is a must, and I personally like balm and butter. Problem is there are tonnes of different products out there, but half the fun is trying them to see what you like!

I had a man come in to the salon where I worked in 2012, he came in for a facial and he had this gorgeously soft beard, quite a bit longer than yours and man oh man, it smelled divine. When men use product on their beards, women notice it, they notice when you've trimmed it, brushed it, cared for it and it is a major turn on to see a man with stunning beard. Women swoon, I'm not making this up. I swoon at the sight of a man with a big beautiful beard and especially big biceps. I just melt into a puddle. Once I plucked up the courage and asked this one guy if he would let me run my fingers through his beard and as a bonus I got to feel his biceps too. That was and is still one of my happy moments. It's like meeting your favourite actor/actress/singer and getting their autograph and a picture taken. Mine is hands down getting to feel a mans beard and biceps. Gets me hot and bothered just thinking about it. So, ja.

Hi! I got a bad ingrown hair a few months back so I completely stopped shaving. That was about 4 months ago. I’m 41 the last time I tried to grow I was in my 20’s on leave when I was in the military. My feat was as pitiful as Charlie Brown’s Christmas Tree. Convinced i was unable to grow a strong masculine beard I never tried again. And then the ingrown hair. Somehow I managed to grow one wicked beard. So much so I even get compliments on it. It boggles my mind that people actually compliment my beard! Anyway I write all of this to say in 4 months it’s starting to look a bit a wild. I know I had to something with it, and happened upon your channel. My brother your videos are hands down the best I’ve seen. I’ve diligently binged them all. Strangely, you’ve made me feel apart of a community I didn’t know existed. I didn’t realize this is an art. A true appreciation; an embracing of one’s masculinity. I might be wrong I swear since growing this thing out people look at me differently..to include women. Not that I’m beating them off with a stick but I’m certainly getting side eye and second glances. My beard isn’t as full as yours is but the krato look is what I went for and damn if it doesn’t look sharp. You gotta new sub!

Since you're planning on growing out a long beard, perhaps you could talk about it along the way from time to time and give us some tips and pointers. Personally, my beard is usually pretty good until about the 4 month mark; then it develops a mind of its own... My inspiration is your first 7 month beard trim from July 2017. Even just prior to that trim, you had a beautiful natural beard, which leads me to believe that it has a lot to do with the styling (balm application, brushing, combing and blow drying).

Greg, one thing that would have been interesting for you to mention in the video is that during those first 3-4 months (until you reach the 4-6 months sweet spot) it is a good time to practise and get into the habit of 'taking care of you beard' with either products, combing, brushing, etc. I'm trying to get to that sweet spot for the first time and watching your videos I've realized I never realized I HAVE to do at least some basic stuff like combing and applying oils (I use a bit of hair wax in my case) in order to keep it looking better while it grows, but also to 'get used' to doing that, which is not a small detail to first timers. Perhaps you could mention it if you make a follow up or an updated version of this video in the future. By the way, hair wax (the ones that come in the same kind of wax tin can you showed in this video) does help right? Because I've seen you mostly mention 'oils' and 'balms' in your videos but not wax. I've been trying it for a couple of weeks now and it does seem to give it a good look and keep the hair feeling better when I touch it, but again, it's the first time I'm using it on my beard and I haven't seen you mention it specifically. Thanks for the videos btw, they are helpful.

My 2 biggest patches are just across my jawline... Even so; it only takes a very few weeks for my beard to cover them quite well. The major problem is that they prevent my beard to be as short as I think I’d like the most. Currently; I am having my beard cut shorter very progressively. Now it is a bit shorter than yours. I don’t mind that patches to be visible. What I want to avoid to look “chubby cheeked” The only other 2 patches are above, between my cheek and my sideburns. I don’t mind. All the four patches are quite symmetrical; but in a strange way: the lower left patch is the most pronunciated - followed by the upper right one - ; while the mildest patch is the upper left.
@chirola50763 жыл бұрын
Hey Greg; by the way: I have read that facial hairs - opposite to head hairs - tend to appear more and more over time. (Please excuse my English; I should’ve wrote that better). What do you think? (In case you understood what I’ve just tried to ask)... may be you’ve already made a video about it. What I can say, according to my experience (specifically in the right and left upper edges of my moustach) is that some hairs seem to take a long long time to appear. - (that’s why I stopped detailing the said upper edges of my moustache). I hope that some day my patches do not exist anymore

First of all, thank you very much for the kind words! Second, as your beard gets longer the hair will push further away from the skin, providing some relief. Using good beard products like oil, butter, or balm will soften the hair and moisturize the skin. Hope that helps some.

I've been working on growing a full beard for about 2 years now. You can see from this old picture I use on KZbin what my density is like. Naked around the soul patch, mustache doesn't connect very well, and super light density on the cheeks. I'm a slow grower in my problem areas, and genetics are catching up now. The issue is that my upper cheeks and mustache connection areas now have better growth, but the hairs are a very light blonde. I dye these areas with Just For Men beard dye to see what my density is like from time to time. It's a good tool to use if you have light hairs like I do, because you know what areas to avoid when trimming so it can catch up in length.

What most men fail to realize that when it comes to grow a beard to a certain way comes to genetics. Not everyone is gonna be able to grow a beard exactly like yours. Like you said, everyone's beard grows a different rate then others. For example, I have a beard but its not full. My mustache doesn't connect to my beard. And youre right about being patient, im growing mine out too. Its been 3 to 4 months for me. Its a process.

Hey Greg just came across your channel, very cool vids! I've been growing my beard out for longer than 6 months now and the length is similar to what you had in your video on how you trim your moustache. I've only recently been using products in my beard and it seems like most of the hair is on my sideburns and jawline and my chin/underchin. I don't think I have a patchy beard its just shorter on my cheeks. If I trim it, will that make it look more full? Or any other tips you have are appreciated.

I have had a beard for the better part of 10 years, and I love it. Will never be clean shaven again. With that said I do have a question: My beard tends to grow a little thicker on the right side, and the longer it gets the more it shows, and I dont know how to trim it to make it not look like that. I never learned how to trim it with scissors, so what can I do? [My beard is about an inch long, about two months of growth, and I'm interested in growing it out some more. It's mainly straight, but does have a slight wave. I do trim the scraggly hair with scissors, but the type of trimming I'm talking of, that's what I do not know how to do.]

I like bodybuilding, and I enjoy the rocking the "bear mode" look, where you aren't "fat" but you aren't really lean which can mess up your testosterone (something around 18%). The problem is a higher BF% deposits itself right in my face and makes me look kinda bloated, so I figure I could hide that with a beard. How long would that take?

The quality of your beard is almost identical to mine. The only difference is that mine is gray and a little bit thicker. The point is genetics plays its part and you can do nothing about it. No oil, brush, comb or any other product will erase the patches or make the beard thicker, but they will make your beard better looking and healthier. Of course, every "beard man" should take care of his face decoration and find his own style.
