Great content . We put the berry cluster in a bag and shake the cluster . When ripe , the berries fall off in the bag . In a good season we can pick a couple gallons of elderberry in a half hour . Great pie !!

Thanks for the tip on getting the berries off easily! I've been pulling them off by hand (not freezing first). :)

Just had a bit of elderberry cordial. I have elderberries from Raintree on order for the spring and a native blue elderberry that I planted last spring. Looking forward to the year I can harvest like that!

Hi Laura, thanks for the video. We have a wonderful elderberry bush in my backyard that we are finally harvesting this year. I am snipping the bunches just like you showed and do the freezer thing, but my last question is...what do you do with them once you knock them off the little branch and have them on their own. How are you then storing them? Fridge? freezer? glass dish etc? I plan to try and do my own syrup with them. Anything you can suggest would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I don't like the texture of the berry when made in pies, etc, so I just soak them in alcohol then make a tincture, which I use during the flu and cold season, and give as gifts

Too bad they can't grow in the Interior of Alaska. The native ones I grew up with in Idaho required a ladder.

If you don't have tons to harvest, you can "pull" the berries off using a dinner fork.👍

The only problem is the birds usually get to them first.
