@tensay hadgu tensay hadgu English French German C2 fluent in alphabetical order; they are all indo european and natal to me spanish b2 it's too much like french and the culture doesn't attract me to get to c2 i would have to live there russian b2 love the culture but it's a slavic language with far fewer cognates to latin or germanic languages estonian a2/b1 i really love it but it's uselessly beautiful Chinese HSK4/5 I can sorta read Dutcha and Yiddish but speak neither. Idk if i will bother to learn afrikaans or swedish/norwegian/icelandic or dutch. i need to get HSK6 Chinese first.

@tensay hadgu Look for common points between the language you are learning and the languages you know. Learning French from English is easy because there are many cognates (mots apparentes). French pronunciation is really different but the spellings are the same or nearly so. Success is a word I cannot spell properly because it is succes in French. That is sometimes one will double up on letters and the other will not. The prepositions in each language are unique and must be learned anew. But English and French grammar are very similar. If you learn avoir and etre and vouloir then the rest is pretty much cognates. Le La Les instead of the ci ce ces instead of this these. But even those are fairly close each language has its own rhythm and music. Also French run their words together speaking in sentences rather than words. Motivation? I just love words poems songs and movies. Romantic. Maybe professional? Idk I am kinda crazy?

Motivation is key, with out it you will not learn. Second is find a technique that works for you and then stick to it.

One important point regarding learning a new language and infact any new thing is,you should first make your brain get accustomed to the point that new thing is new only to you.For a person well versed in that it is not new.The well versed person in one thing is just a human like us.If he or she can do a thing or learn a thing,we can also do that because we are also human like him or her. This strong view point in you will definitely make you to be like the person who is an expert in a thing. Then your brain will start analysing the reason for the excellent performance of the other person. Then automatically solutions will pop up in your brain.
