I love math since childhood but never took it seriously because I thought I was dumb. I realized this year my mind likes math and scanning numbers. And if I understand the author's instructions. I was able to acknowledge the math problems. Another thing is if I can't figure out a problem. I save it in my notes and find other math books or sources to solve the problem later on. The hard part about that is libraries and bookstores are limited in math books. So, I go to 5 libraries to practice math now.

Naive set theory has a solution manual where the implicit problems in the text are solved. Just for people to know. That material exists. Second, Paul Halmos books are top quality in every way. He is a true teacher and a gifted mathematician. I'm glad that you shows his book here. You are providing top standard education to people who haven't heard of such resources. Great content as always.

Any good algebra books with lots of problems? Getting deeper into math to eventually flow into physics. Also sharpening the methodical, problem solving and creativity abilities through math is extremely intriguing. Would picking up a discrete math and algebra book be good for improving those skills mentioned above for also getting into programming, if so what would those books be? Thanks!!

“Discrete Mathematics With Applications” seems to be an intriguing one that I’ve seen in your videos. Basically just looking for a really good algebra book to serve as a vehicle to climbing the latter in order to get to “higher mathematics” past calculus. Are there books that sort of cover algebra 1 and 2 so one could then get into geometry, algebra 3 trig, pre calc, calc, etc.? Doing self study and would really prefer a book that was geared towards deep learning rather than passing tests; thanks again!

I studied with "Introduction to Mathematical Thinking: Problem Solving and Proofs" recently and it does pretty much exactly what the title says. There are lots of problems from many different areas of maths, so the focus is more on the process of learning/doing maths rather than the maths itself. Because it covers a wide range of topics, it gives lots of approaches to proving things, and the skills are clearer than they would be in a book that covers a narrow topic. I studied that immediately after finishing high school maths (which included equivalents of algebra1&2&3, geometry, trig, pre calc and a bit of calc) and it was very approachable. If you haven't studied those topics already, you'd probably want to do that first (though calc isn't necessary in my opinion) using something like Khan Academy.

@TheMathSorcerer In the video you mention that in mathematics you cant just say "I want to learn x so I will buy book about x" because that does not work. Could you please explain why this is not the case in mathematics, and possibly how one can avoid such a situation? Is it a matter of identifying the prerequisite knowledge to begin studying x because otherwise you won't have any idea of what is happening? Or is it something else? Love your vids!

@@TheMathSorcerer Okay yes I figured that's what you meant but wanted to double check. I have found I purchase books too early without the required knowledge and I do not understand immediately what is going on HOWEVER after a while of slowly increases my exposure to mathematical concepts / different mathematics I can revisit and all of a sudden some of the seemingly disparate ideas become clearer and I can interpret the book.
