Thank you for this video. It got all the answers that I needed. I am having suicidal OCD from last one month. A continuous train of thoughts and ways that I might do it this way or due to this reason or that setback. It makes you very uncomfortable and disturbed. But like any OCD it's just a fear and thought and ERP along with some SSRI really helps. Talking to your family and friends along with a psychologist is the way to start. I wish everyone healing and good health.

Everytime I see one/use one, I always have an impulsing thought that I will st*b myself (very dark but its true), only to know how it feels. Even though my mind tells me things I should do, I will never do it because I know its life threatening. I’ve been managing my impulsive thoughts lately, especially the one’s I can control, but some do pass by to make me feel anxious. People with ocd now are so lucky, there's so much help nowadays. I've had pure O since 18, I'm now 64. I saw doctors in the late 70s and early 80s and they didn't even know what it was. I recall them saying to me, why do you do it if you know it's for nothing. I thought I was the only one. I called it a kind of worrying, because I just thought that's what it was. There was no internet or any kind of help. I know there's help available for you, you've just got to find it. The best to you.

I have a weird OCD where plastics and things like prosthetics, dolls, Halloween decorations, costumes, makeup, some decorations that look like humans, things like that bother me so much. I have to wash my hands a lot and sanitize them anytime I touch that stuff or if someone else touches it and then touches me. Idk why I am like that but it’s torture for me and the people around me and I’m trying to figure out how to cope with it and help myself realize that there’s nothing wrong with that stuff, it’s just a problem occurring in my own head. So I am trying exposures therapy, first just being near it not having to touch it, then continually telling myself that there’s nothing wrong with it and it’s just plastic, like a milk carton or a video game controller (which doesn’t bother me in the slightest). Then focusing hard on other things to forget about it and not think about it or obsess over it. Then repeat over and over. It seems to help a bit and it’s gradually getting a bit better. But if I stop trying to deal with it, I can easily revert back to sanitizing myself constantly. So I am doing my best. I took medication’s my whole life and they never worked, if anything they made things worse so this is my only option. It’s still better now than when I was young at least. Wish me luck and pray for me as I will pray for all of you as well.🙏🥺

ERP is not having good enough results for it to be called “the best”. Many people with OCD are just getting traumatised by being exposed. This field needs much more flexibility and more data. OCD should be more a neurodivergent diagnosis rather than an affect one. It’s more similar to autism than anxiety.
@BEN3G3 ай бұрын
what they don't tell you in this video is ERP therapy actually traumatizes the shit out of OCD suffers for a good while before there's any noticle benefit and that's if there is any. people's anxiety will increase almost several times during ERP, which makes many OCD sufferers abandon it.
