I was going to buy some of the new contrast paints anyway, but, if anyone asks, I’ll tell them that I only bought them because of your amazing video because you’re Warhammer’s most influential influencer.

Been almost exclusively painting my models with a combination of standard metallic paints and contrasts as well as shades - much faster way of painting which helps massively as I really don't have a huge amount of time for painting. Best tip I gained for contrast paints was to apply shade washes ontop. Gives so much more "pop" when you do that 🤘
@matthewbiro96892 жыл бұрын
I am the same. The metalics give the models a nice pop and extra dimension IMO. The only thing I do differently is to use my trusty BA red when thinned down as a glaze for my BA red process. I really like it because I think it gives the armour a richness and depth and you don't get from just using contrast and layer paints

Are you applying a Shade Wash on top of the Contrast paint? or Contrast Paint on top of the Shade Wash? cheers.

I’m going to try dry brushing white over the black primer. Thank you for sharing 🥳👍
@HarleyFirestorm2 жыл бұрын
I have been doing the same, pre shading with prime coats and using the contrast paints to give it a good base, but still using highlighting and washing. I don't know if you want a tip but when I do metallic stuff I always pre mix a 1:1 black and metallic colour as a base then layer metallic colour from a wet pallet before highlighting edge's, the dark base makes the end result look richer.

I much prefer your method of Zenithal to the airbrush: I'm simply not enough of a gearhead/patient in that mechanical way.

Much enjoyment was taken from this video 👏🏼 I seem to find using contrast as a basecoat most the time then highlight over it etc Does speed up the painting process I find. Like I said, really liked this style of video & I look forward to more painting/little projects etc videos that you do in the future 🌟

Excellent video! Just a quick comment on the antlers: You painted the antlers more dark towards the upper end. While horn tends to get darker towards the tip (look at drinking horns), antlers usually will get more light towards the points. As a hunter that bothered me a little bit :D Greetings from Germany!

11:48 The mini looks great! The only thing is the green scales of the quiver seem overworked: they looked better before your final highlight.

Thanks for this. You said it looks more natural than a zenithal but isn’t this sort of drybrush underpainting basically the same as a zenithal?
@HellstormWargaming2 жыл бұрын
Yes… but no. With zenethial, the ‘volume’ of white is concentrated at the top, the mid section of the model will look similar, but the upper parts that will be more ‘flat white’ rather than under painted with shadows as well will look different :)

All these youtubers just can't stop themselfs from saying it out loud they were invited to a "super secret VIP meeting with other so-very-special youtubers" from GW itself. Very important. It's so secret EVERY youtuber talks about it a few weeks later. Guaranteed. GW really knows how to manipulate these youtubers, they have them by the balls.
@SheepWaveMeByeBye2 жыл бұрын
It's interesting to see how GW is grooming a new generation of youtubers. If you play nice with GW you get presents and early access to the new releases. Come publication day GW gets a lot of coverage from their chosen ones. Other youtuber painters have to wait a month for release day before they can buy, assemble, paint, edit & release a video that's already old news. It'll be interesting to see if YT mini painting will be a cesspool of toxic positivity in a few years. Everything points in that direction, have been that way for a while.
