Splice stuff is over used, and it will eventually come back to haunt you. I’m not saying drop it completely, it might be good to Keep up with what they are using so you can steer away from that, also identify who’s using what to know where they stand. Fresh sounds and beats are what you want especially vocal hooks.
@JodyRicoMusic4 ай бұрын
The issue is when an artist or producer uploads a beat/song using a splice sample to KZbin's Content ID via distributors like Distrokid. Audio/Video that contains non-exclusive samples (like samples from Splice) are not suppose to be uploaded to KZbin's ContentID. However artists and producers don't read. As a result the artist/producer that uploads a song/beat to KZbinContentID, gets everyone else who uploads a beat to KZbin with the same splice sample copyright claimed. Reading comprehension is the issue.
@JohnIvoryMusic4 ай бұрын
Exactly. Happened to me so many times. But also artists do it with sold beats, which sometimes you don’t even know. They’ll just submit a whole album to DistroKid or something and one of the beats may be on there. Hard to say just to exclude one or two of the songs in that case. Right now it’s basically whoever gets to it first on KZbin until something is resolved lol or go through the process of disputing it

I’m not that great at making beats and that’s where Splice comes in because they’ve got a metric tON of nice drum loops/one shots. I do like some of the female vocalists they have there though.

What about Loopcloud & Tracklib is similar to a Splice, is KZbin targeting those samples too for copyrights.
@YattirSmith4 ай бұрын
It doesn't matter what you use ... Hundreds of other people are downloading that same sample or that same sample loop and using it in their songs and if they are, they're probably copyrighting them and uploading them to Spotify and Apple Music and then you download the same loop and use it in your song after someone else has already used it already.... Just never use a loop just by itself. Cut it, flip it, rearrange it, pitch it up. Pitch it down

It seems the big problem here is that Producer A makes a track using a particular Splice loop, this track gets logged in the Content ID systems, then Producer B makes a different track that happens to use the same Splice Sample. So Content ID strikes Producer B on account of using Producer A's content because it doesn't know that it's a Splice loop. A solution to this problem might be for Splice to load up all it's samples into the Content ID systems and for the Content ID systems to be programmed to ignore them during copyright checks. A lot of expensive effort, no doubt why it hasn't been done. Personally I would say carry on using Splice samples (which you are absolutely licensed to do by Splice) as you like to overload the DSPs help desks, encourage them to sort this out. It's even more expensive to hire an army of new customer service reps to sort out thousands of automated false Splice strikes. Even more expensive still if they get their arses sued for loss of earnings on account of incorrectly/illegally interfering with the release of artist's 100% legit material.

@BinkyWomack4 ай бұрын
Blending 2 melodies together is a good idea. One rule of thumb should be to chop or alter the samples. chop in it in 2,4,8 rearrange the parts, or a beat delay or something. I heard a dude do a tutorial on beat making. I recognized the loop from splice. I told him this same thing. At that point I realized some guys just do this for kicks. They have no desire to be great outside the neighborhood. You can not take a loop, put a trap beat on it and say u made the beat. U can until money is at play.

What i Don't understand is WHY this is so hard for these company to get right.. If I were to go get a popular sample from a popular artist and clear it, one wouldn't have this problem. Producers used the same samples all the times and seem to not have the same problems.. it's weird to me..
@waynebo2484 ай бұрын
This is a problem that exists because producers are being LAZY! You should NEVER be using a melodic sample as-is. Edit, pitch, chop, drop it in a vst and re-trigger it, etc. That should always be what you're doing with your samples. Yes, it takes longer, but it's FUN. Plus, music doesn't need to be done fast, it needs to be GOOD. Slow down and be creative!

Get inspired by it. DON’T pay for a subscription- splice is one of those programs that’ll come and bite you in the ass. Once you start using it you’ll get caught up in their game, because and soon as you drop your subscription guess what your no longer covered by “I’m a member” and all your songs will instantly not be yours, besides why do you want loops that are used by 10,000 people. And they are using the same samples, loops, and beats there is only so many ways you can tweak those sounds they eventually all get copyrighted, and the last thing you want is to be fighting over someone claiming your royalties.
