I used to live out there and had a friend that worked the stadium. The grass is always an issue because it’s technically a field…it’s dirt with grass on it. But it’s on a platform that retracts in and out over a concrete floor so they can have events without destroying the grass. The problem is, it’s too shallow for the grass to root properly so it comes up in clumps and isn’t dense enough to run on properly. They tried to address it by bring in a new type of grass that roots more shallowly, but it didn’t really have time to set…the retractable field was a good idea but badly executed lol

@Deivias Ball being uncatchable is irrelevant for defensive holding. The ball being catchable or not only matters for pass interference. Defensive holding is when the foul happens before the ball is thrown, PI is when its in the air. As far as when it called? 100% irrelevant. KC and Philly are two of the least penalized teams in the league. If a Ref sees a penalty, they should throw the flag. That's all there is to it.

Its not as simple as saying the ball was uncatchable, especially since, for defensive holding, the ball being catchable or not doesn't matter. Disrupting timing, even by a half second, can destroy some precision routes. On top of that, sometimes a QB will do something like that specifically to highlight the penalty to the Refs - in some situations pro QB's are trained to do that, just like they're trained to throw the ball deep when they know they have a defensive offsides call.

You can't grab out of the break and then to grab with the other hand as well is egregious to the level of throwing the flag, even in the 4th quarter of a SB as if that matters.

Being honest, I would be pissed if philly got that call. But slightly less so if philly also got a defensive TD overturned or a missed PI on the same receiver earlier in the game. you could even throw in the offsides that shouldve been a delay of game. I still understand how significant it is though since it was at a much more pivotal moment than any of the other calls.

Another chiefs fan here that didn’t like the call. That being said the left hand was not what the hold was called on. It was when JuJu made his first cut to the sideline that he was grabbed. I still wish it wouldn’t have been called but if you see the hold on the first cut to the sideline and not the hand when he cuts upfield, it was a lot more of a hold than the hand was. CHIEFS FAN - Dee was legit lined up in neutral zone. Never blamed the ref. If I wanted to be mad I would be mad at the second Bolten fumble recovery TD called back. I moved on after the call I didn’t agree with. Shit happens all the time. I woulda been upset but not at the ref for the call. There were hands tugging and then wrapping/ briefly pulling. I'm a neither fan nor hater of either team. Just as a football fan, that somewhat ticky tacky penalty was an anticlimactic letdown from what was otherwise the best superbowl in years. Yes, KC is the better team and I suspect they would have somehow prevailed. But as a fan, I wanted to see if Hurts could lead his offense to a win or even just tie it up for overtime. Super impressed with Hurts, regardless. I suspect he'll get another shot at a ring before many more years go by. I didn't watch many games this year and hadn't watched anything since the Hamlin's cardiac arrest, but definitely glad I tuned into this super bowl.

Chiefs fan here. If that call didn't get made/went Philly's "way", no one would be talking about it. I think it was a tick-tacky call. But..check the hold at the line where he's hugging him basically But to answer your question, I wouldn't have complained at all if that call had gone against us. We'd have kicked a FG and stopped them with a 1:45 and no TOs, just like we did the whole 2nd half. Same result, less bitching

As a Chiefs fan, that call was definitely soft asf, especially considering how few holding calls had been made throughout the game. I would definitely be pissed if the situation was reversed. And I'm pissed now because the game ended on a wet fart and even after taking the W all anyone is going to think about this game is the flag and not how well our team played to get back into this game.

I’m friends with several Chiefs fans on Facebook. I had a good conversation with one of them last night about how that call marred an otherwise good game. He was glad his team won, but he didn’t necessarily want to win on such a ticky-tack call like that. I feel like that’s a reasonable way to look at it.

That's a hold either way. I'd be upset, but it should be called a penalty either way Perna. The refs need better consistency and they really need to figure that out, but a missed call in the past doesn't justify not calling one later when it exists. Make-up calls would be even worse though.

As Chiefs fan, easyyyyy, super easy to say I won’t be mad over that hold. Be angry at the player maybe. Dee ford lined offside, that roughing the passer vs Brady, etc, we seen and been on the other side of game losing calls, but never said it was rigged or even if i have, not too mad cuz there was a penalty, and this was a text book penalty.
