Islam vs Volk 1 was inarguably the fight of the year. Arguably the best fight of last decade from technical aspects. Biggest let down was Gane vs Jones, O Malley vs Sterling and Khamzat vs Usman. Most unexpected yet the fans appeasing one was Strickland vs Adesanya.

That is refreshing. I totally agree on the recent Pantoja fight. I cannot stand how he did 0 ground & pound/submission threat, he seemed gassed. The list goes on. Anthony Smith vs Johnny Walker was like a nice A tier IMO because Anthony Smith is a dude who is more dangerous as the fight goes on and Walker was known to fade, but Walker showed that while still being a bit flashy early he can tough it out and completely outclassed Anthony in the process

Yes. Idk how you could argue that Sandhagen's performance vs Font was in any way good. The takedowns were nice, but he did nothing for 25 minutes with them. Pantoja vs Royval wasn't nearly as bad but the grappling was. Outside of the 4th round where Pantoja had the back, he did nothing on the ground.

Usman has been cheating throughout the fights too so in my opinion if they both do it it can't really detract from the fight itself. Not to mention, he got a point deducted for it, they reset into the same position and he still won quite comfortably

I dont like watching fights filled with cheating, one guy cheating doesn't suddenly make it really cool if the other guy cheats, it still detracts from his performance. And yea, like i said, he did well, I feel he would've won without the cheating. But Usman couldn't get his hands locked because he kept getting his gloves held by Leon so i guess we'll never know, which is why i found his performance while skillful to be pretty frustrating, and I don't particularly care who wins that fight either. Edit: I guess the best way to say it is that it's not zero sum. I think cheating should automatically lower how high a performance should be classed if it's clear it was an intentional instance of cheating which it clearly was more than once in that fight. That doesn't make Kamaru's performance better or mean that Leon actually performed worse, but one of the best performances of the year can't come from a fight where he cheated a ton intentionally on his way to winning.
