The great Athenian philosopher Socrates, when he was condamned to death sentence by the Athenian Court, he said during the trial, that he was happy to be accused unjustly like the wise Palamedes who was also accused unjustly.

Palamedes wasn't that wise though, his arrogance ruined the Greek's chances for ending the war prematurely because he kept making unreasonable demands of Priam

Palamedes is concidered as the genious of the ancient world and the creator of the alphabet by the ancient writters (not the phoneceans). Palamedes has a lot of phraces refaring to him ,wise as palamedes ,palamedes trick etc

Oddyseus is one of those historical characters you love but the more you read into him you wouldnt want to be his friend in real life. He totally set up Palamedes.

Yep. He REALLY hated Palamedes for getting him to join the Trojan War. Didnt help that Palamedes also used Telemachus to make it happen

Can't say I blame him. Not only did he drag Odysseus into a war he wanted no part in, but he also botched their chance to settle the matter peacefully.

@@George-Hawthorne Odysseus swore an oath to go to war. He did not want to fulfill that oath and feigned madness. He has no moral high ground to stand on.
@George-Hawthorne2 жыл бұрын
@@danielk4859 Can you blame him for wanting to back out of that Oath? He did so for the right reasons. The oracle told him that he would not return home for 20 years, longer than any Greek that would return. Also let's not forget that Palamedes put his son's life at risk. Although considering what he did during the Sack of Troy, he should be thankful that he was allowed to go home at all.

This is why I love your channel, you cover everything. Palamedes is hardly ever mentioned, I'm glad u brought up not only his death BUT also his father's revenge too. Like how he began spreading rumours of the Greek kings were betraying their wives. And other attempts in the future, I hope you will bring up why he is called "Nauplius the Wrecker"

Palamedes was considered the most important figure of the trojan war along Achilles by the ancient Greeks and greatly wronged by Homer. When someone was asked about it he replied if Palamedes didnt took part in the Trojan war the Trojan war didn t happen either.

Honestly its sad how when it comes down to Troy all people know is pretty much: paris kidnaps helen,war starts,hector kills patroclus,achilles kills hector,paris kills achilles etc and finally the wooden horse.

Great video which shows the tragic fate of one of the greatest and more unkwown among the Heroes of the Trojan War. Palamedes was the greatest intellect among the Greeks during the war. He not only invented the games, but according to the myths he invented some of the letters of the Greek alphabet. He also prevented an empidemic that could devastate the Achean camp, by using the first epidemiological measures. He cared about the simple soldiers. His intellect and popularity put him in direct collision with Odysseus, who apart from the original grudge, he was jealous of Palamedes's intellect and popularity. His jealousy will increase even more, when Palamedes, will succeed to bring supplies from Thrace, when Odysseus failed to do so, few weeks earlier. And so Odysseus organized the plot against Palamedes, conivincing Agamemnon that Palamedes could be a serious problem to his authority. After Palamedes's execution as a traitor, his two closest friends Achilles and Ajax started to question openly Agamemnon's authority, a situation that will culminate at the events of the Iliad. At the same time Palamedes's father, Nauplios (the city of Nauplio in Peloponnese was built from him, and the hill above the city is called Palamidi, in honour of his son Palamedes) a former Argonaut will become a serious to the Atreides and their allies, at their way home...

It's time for alternative myth: Narcissus:We must come together. Echo took this As A sign that Narcissus return her love; she run towards her beloved happily and threw her arms around Narcissus; Narcissus took her in his arms and the two embraced in A loving kiss. I was watching from afar with A smile across my face. Aphrodite approached me. Aphrodite: Okay. I kept my end of our deal, it's time for you to keep your end. Me: A deal is A deal. Aphrodite(Surprise): Wait A minute. You're not trying to escape ? Me: No. I made A promised and I am going to fulfill it. I grabbed Aphrodite's hand; The Goddess of beauty and love melt almost instantly as I led her to the bedroom.
