the husband is to love and respect his wife just as much as the wife should love and respect the husband. love and respect are mutual. it goes both ways. the Bible says that the husband is the head of the wife but that word can be translated in various ways, also as "glory" because of the order of creation. The Bible also says that the wife is the head of the home and the word used there can be translated only as the "head". I 1 timothy 5;14 we read; "I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully." when we take a deeper look at the original greek word used there translated as "guide" we see the full meaning: to be master (or head) of a house , to rule a household. It is a very strong word. Also, when we take a look at the verse in ephesians 5,21 we see that husband is supposed to submit to his wife too. In verse 25 we read: "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;" - so practically it means that for the husband the wife's opinion, health, calling, desires, happiness, expectations are to be of more value and of greater importance than himself.

What would you considered nagging.because when a woman have to repeatedly have to ask her partner to do something, some considers that nagging? So should we just ask once and if he doesn't get up to do, we leave it be and do it ourselves?

Hey, Ying! While there can be some grey area, nagging is more akin to constantly badgering someone over something that can be difficult to control, might take some work to complete, or maybe even goes against the personal boundaries that have been established in the relationship. It isn't as simple as asking 2-3 times to empty the trash. If you have children, it's similar to how they can constantly ask for a treat before bed even though you have already said no. Nagging is often done with a heart of bitterness or annoyance, an extreme example being the case of Samson and the women in his life (from the book of Judges). In an otherwise healthy relationship, nagging can be addressed by making sure both partners have clear expectations and positive dialog.
