Oh didn't see that was a video link at first. Still seems half explained though. If the bid is the highest open order for someone trying to BUY a given stock (I think) then how does a market maker manage to BUY at that price? The lowest price they should be able to get is the ask, not the bid. As the ask is an offer to sell.
