I just want to say that in my opinion the big 12 has the best fight songs in the country. These were so hard to rank, just because a team might be last doesn't mean I don't like it. I like every song in this conference.

UT is NOT battle hymn of the republic. That's Georgia. Many Texas fight songs on the FBS level are linked to folk tunes. Texas- I've been working on the railroad Texas A&M- Yankee Doodle (Yes it is.) UTEP- El Paso SMU- she'll be coming around the mountain.

I like "Hail West Virginia" where it is, I miss it as my own high school's old fight song, but I was surprised "Boomer Sooner" and "Texas Fight" weren't 1/2 and were 5/6. Sure they're the two big dogs, but they also have the most memorable fight songs too, and again, not just because they're usually steamrolling teams.

Did you know that OU's fight song is actually taken from Yale and North Carolina? OU's words are Boomer Sooner over and over taken from Yale's Boola Boola over and over. Then the end of Boomer Sooner is "I'm sooner born and sooner bred...." taken from North Carolina's "I'm tar heel born and tar heel bred....". So not authentic. I do think objectively that Kansas has the catchiest and Texas' song is real good too.
