No fan wants college football to turn into semi pro football 🏈. We do want a few protected rivalries and to play all teams on a more frequent basis, like the 3-6 model. The “north” schools need a south rival to not be disadvantage, like KSU having TCU as a rival to match their regular daily flight to and from Dallas. Other rivals would be KU, ISU and maybe one other. Still like the idea of flexible schedule and someone figuring out how they play a league championship tournament with the top four teams. With four teams in the tournament there will be so much more interest, double double, up to the final week seeing who is going to make the tournament.

I hear ya but no body wants to see the schools and NCAA executives sign million dollar contracts off the players whose only compensation is a scholarship. The scholarship at best is about 100,000 dollars for a four year ride and its renewable on a yearly basis. Basically the school can cut you after one year without cause. The NIL evens the playing field some.

I don't mind compensation like getting a job if they want or getting paid for commercials, but making thousands of dollars to go to another school like you're a pro being traded then no to that, they need to iron out rules because this will create a huge division of the haves vs. the have nots. The fans and donors are already footing the bill on scholarships so you can't dump the NIL on them too. I don't want college sports turning into a minor pro subsidiary of the NFL, NBA and other sports and yes, the women are gonna get even more screwed in this as well unless they ramp up the scholarships for them.

I gotta disagree. With ZERO blue blood football programs in the conference once Texas and OU leave for the SEC, their status as a Power 5 conference will be precarious at best. Adding BYU, Houston, Cincinnati and UCF does not come close to equaling Texas and Oklahoma football, regardless of the fact that Longhorn football is down right now. The other four Power conferences have geographical continuity in their favor. WVU has never been a true fit for the Big XII, and is better suited to be in the ACC. In fact, of the new schools coming into the Big XII, Houston is the only geographical fit. It's very expensive to send teams across the country to play a game, especially large teams like football. Not to mention that Cincy and UCF do not have a long tradition of strong football programs. Their success is more recent, and likely to fade over time once their competition level increases. There is no way Cincy should have been in the CFP last season. They were clearly outmatched vs Georgia. I see the Big XII going the way of the Big East, eventually. The other four Power conferences will want to gobble up other members of the Big XII, much like the SEC getting UT and OU, to try and keep up with the SEC through expansion, which will de-stabilize the Big 12 and lead to their collapse. Cincy, Iowa St, Kansas, Kansas St, and Oklahoma St could all end up in the Big Ten, Texas Tech and BYU could go to the Pac-12, while WVU and UCF might become members of the ACC. No one wants the other members. Either way, once Texas and OU leave for the SEC, the Big XII will be the weakest Div 1 college football conference.

The ACC will collapse in 10-15 years and will quickly fall behind due to their terrible TV deal. The Pac-12 may collapse in the next year or so. @redleg19712 жыл бұрын
@@bigbuffguy9589 10 to 15 years?! How in the hell can you possibly know that that far out? Even if it did, the Big 12 will be long gone by then, or it won't be considered a Power conference any more. It's kinda important to have a blue blood or two in football in your conference. It's got something to do with that whole respectability thing. The ACC and the Pac-12 can re-negotiate their deals to prevent a collapse or exodus, especially if USC, FSU and Clemson lead the way. Bottom line is, the Big XII is in Big trouble!

@@brian2440 It's called playing the long game. Because eventually, as much as I hate to say it, Texas will be a Top Ten program again.
