Arsenal were winning the league before Kroenke got their hands on Arsenal. As soon as Kroenke was majority shareholders, Arsenal stagnated at 4th and spiralling down. Hence the criticism. The opposite of Levy. That being said, now that Kroenke is full owner, it does seem like he is spending and making the right footballing decisions seeing where Arsenal is now. So, maybe he will prove to be a good owner, but before this, he was in charge of Arsenal's downfall.

Lmao. I knew this but it’s still funny to read
@Metali-tin Жыл бұрын
@@JEUXolim Errr! You knew that Preston won both of their titles more recently than Spurs? I didn't... Clearly a google merchant that read 1889 and 1890 wrong("89 and 90... more recent innit"). Everyone should know Preston were the first winners of the EFL but since there were only 12 teams and one division, a lot of people don't consider it a proper topflight(fair point IMO, professional football was in it's infancy also). Villa, Everton and Sunderland are the main traditional big clubs who were there from the beginning(no disrespect to Wolves, Blackburn and others but they are just outside of the top 10). 1892-93 was when the league was expanded, the first topflight season had 16 teams which allowed teams like United in to the 1st Division straight off the bat by election. City joined the 2nd Division that same season(had to earn promotion, yet still only 4 topflight seasons behind United in total). All the other big teams joined later, which means they had to join div2 and had to work their way up . 1894: Liverpool, Arsenal, Newcastle all joined in the same season. 1905: Chelsea founded and joined the league in the same year. 1909: Spurs joined the league despite being founded in 1882.
@Metali-tin Жыл бұрын
Also to be fair some of those teams are not and historically can't be considered as big as Spurs. I know it's banter but needs saying every now and then because some people can't tell the difference these days because nobody talks facts anymore. Newcastle and Sunderland won most of their league titles and their other major honours in eras before any of their fans were alive to witness it. Others like Leeds only have 5 major honours in total(don't be counting cups that UEFA don't recognise as major honours) which doesn't even make them top15 most successful. Even before Chelsea's and City's takeovers they had more major honours than Leeds(City were in the top 10 before 2008) and the attendance data shows those clubs have a higher average overall too. Yet everyone puts them higher than they should be overall(and I don't think it's bants when people do it). Everton and Villa are the ones that get ignored more than they should because historically they were even bigger than United and Liverpool for significant parts of English football history. Times do change though.

Not how it works all the time. Success is judged by the objectives set out at the start of the season. There will be priority objectives at the start of the season, and CL qualification through league position would’ve be priority objective number 1 - If this is achieved then it would go down as success based on that target. I assume winning the EL was optional based relative to league position. And FA Cup as important, but third priority. This is how success will be measured by the club. Winning trophies is the end-game, but not the only ‘barometer of success’ So ultimately

Sorry but if any Spurs fan wants to argue Spurs weren't irrelevant in the PL era before Levy arrived, then they can't claim City were irrelevant either. History lesson: City, Spurs, Liverpool level on major honours at the close of 1970. City won a league cup(the same major honour Toby is using) in the 70s and challenged for the title more than Spurs did in that era(more top 4 finishes, including one runner up by just 1 point to a Littlewoods financially doped Liverpool). None the less, Spurs managed to finish the 70s with a small lead over City in major honours(a difference of just 2... 1 extra FA cup and 1 extra ECWC). The only difference from the 80s onwards was Spurs had far more financial backing, where City were in decline because of the lack said backing, along with poor finance management(Swales). The 80s is where this fabled "big 5" term was briefly used(it was paid for PR by the clubs involved... the Big Sly 3 was the first significant change in that regard and Spurs were never near that conversation). If it was by merit, how Spurs were ever included over Villa would take some serious explaining. Since Villa had the attendances to be competitive, they actually won a league title and the European cup in that era to. Where Spurs didn't compete for the title or the European cup, they basically bought some relevance and some cups but cheated the EFL rules to do it. The PL probably saved them when their dodgy transfer business of the 80s came to light. The FA wanted still wanted to dock 12points but Spurs basically bought their way out of it(won their appeal to pay a bigger fine) blaming the old regime at Spurs but should it have mattered whether the people were still there or not? All this goes to say... I never want Spurs fans to claim they were ever bigger than City(they weren't and City are definitely bigger today(global fanbase, trophy counts etc). Nor do I want to see them moaning about buying success or finger waving about alleged rule breaking. They've asterisks against their club for issues like that, they managed to break the old english football's financial rules, a time where the rules were pretty lax indeed. City were champions of England in the same era Arsenal first won it(the bank of England club, Arsenal were called at the time). Far before Spurs were in the conversation.
@Metali-tin Жыл бұрын
Forgot to say, that Spurs fan talking like the creation of the Premier League, along with the secret meetings in the late 80s behind the other founding members backs(and Alan Sugar getting his greedy mitts involved)... was a good thing for English football says it all. That was what led to the creation of the Big Sly 3, which wasn't paid for PR unlike "the big 5" hype(literally only an 80s thing... disappeared fast). The breakaway PL, was one of the worst things to happen to the long term competitiveness of the top flight and it's had a long lasting knock on effect down the pyramid for the worse too. It needed billionaire owners to compete with the Big Sly 3's financial might/dominance by the mid 00s. People who talk like this was always the norm have no clue.

These Arsenal fans talking about what Pep has spent since joining City either don't know their facts or are straight up being deliberately obtuse. United and Chelsea have both spent over £1bn gross too(Chelsea's is higher than City's). Arsenal are approaching £1bn themselves in the same period(£0.84bn). What's more, is City have a lower NET SPEND than Arsenal in that same period(United 1st, Chelsea 2nd, Arsenal 3rd, City 4th... including academy sales, since 2016)... In a 5 year comparison(since 2018/19) City are in the bottom 6 in the whole league. Funny how these clowns pick and choose when to switch from gross spend and net spend. It used to be their favourite word, when it suited their argument(United fans are the same). Now it doesn't matter what you recoup all of a sudden? It does show how good the transfer business has been but the gross spend still shows what they've had to work with. Liverpool fans do overstate it's importance(because it suits their argument) to make it look like Klopp had no money/leverage to make some expensive signings. They've just not backed him when he wanted to refresh the squad enough. The only fraudulence is City haters and their double standards. CIty fans need to be ramming these facts down their throats for the years of the rest of the big 6 talking like net spend was the most important topic in world football. It's the same with transfer inflation(Chelsea and United are far more at fault than City on that). I saw someone in the chat claim £100m is one City player. As if Grealish isn't the first and only £100m player City have bought to date. Even if they sign Bellingham: Lukaku, Pogba, Athony, Enzo etc are/were already there or there abouts before and after the signing of Grealish. These false narratives need to stop, it's just clowns trying to make themselves feel better about City's success.

I don’t understand Turkish love for Levy. He didn’t make us. We were considered a traditional big six club before Levy took over. The 90s happened to be our worst years ever but your totally neglecting what we accomplished before that. Even In the 90s, we won a few trophies. Levy has won us fuckall

Not if you beat a load of championship teams at home to win that trophy. Man utd fans acting like the league cup is champions league, embarrassing.

As a Liverpool fan whos seen my team win every trophy available in the last 4 years, id be more confident going into next season if my team finished a few points off man city than a league cup and scraping top 4

@@ra7671 Klopp won 1 pl in 7 years, United lost the league on goals difference with City. 2nd doesn't mean anything. Silverware matters

@@retropetro6982 Mourinho won “the treble” with united and not even 18 months later he was sacked…sad reality of football is that the only trophies that matter are the League and UCL…winning a league cup doesn’t mean you will go and excel but finishing a point or two behind peps man city shows you have a good chance next year. P.s. fergie won didnt win a league title in his first 7 years…and klopp is going up against the richest team of all time with the best manager of all time so ill take it 👍

No disrespect but Matisse and Toby don't know much about the De Gea situation. Even if you get a keeper like Maignan, Costa etc. Man utd has a different level of pressure you can even reference ben foster, van der sar back in the day also. Being a united goalkeeper is different gravy majority will crumble, and if they are outfield players its easier to gel at acclimatise to the prem but for a goalkeeper to get used to being a united goalkeeper may take longer than a year.

Said it a couple of weeks ago, Turkish really thinks he’s the only one that’s allowed to not rate his owners. Tobi has his opinions on his club’s ownership/management and that’s it, stop trying to make him look crazy.

In the big six our owners have been the worst over the last 20 years. Tottenham’s owners have made the club bigger, increased revenue and put them in a position where they can bring in top managers and attract better players. Utd’s ownership has been worse then Tottenham’s but they have still allowed the club to spend a lot of money, their issue has been not getting the right people in the right places to spend that money well.
