The song was written by Riki LIndhome and Kate Micucci - who play Ramona Nowitzki (the grad student who was obsessed with Sheldon in the episode "The Cooper-Nowitzki Theorem") and Raj's girlfriend, Lucy. Lindhome and Micucci are a musical comedy duo known as "Garfunkel and Oats" - they even had their own TV show for a bit!

Actually, most of them can play the instruments that their characters play in the show. Johnny/Leonard can really play the cello. Simon/Howard can play the piano. Jim/Sheldon can also play the piano and the theremin. And Mayim/Amy can play the harp (among many other instruments).

Admittedly, I've gotten in a state similar to Sheldon's where I get in a writing zone and don't talk to anyone for hours-days, but never quite as extreme as Sheldon's zone. But the song is one of my top BBT moments, and Penny accidentally giving Leonard a better gift than the one she had planned was so nice. As soon as you said, "sex can be romantic," I remembered you watched "Red, White, & Royal Blue" and saw the Paris "make love" scene. Apparently, that movie is just in my brain, no matter what I'm watching. Back to BBT, Penny's memento box scene mirrors a Rachel and Ross scene from "Friends," but BBT did it better/sweeter, since Penny was talking about how sweet Leonard is, whereas Rachel and Ross were having a fight, and she was proving a point that she's not devoid of sentiment as Ross implied. On a side note, I once bought a special CD of one of my husband's favorite keyboard players for his birthday, because I forgot that he'd already bought it. So, yeah, that can really happen. That's truly when it's the thought that counts.

OK, hang on. Sheldon does a calculation on a napkin at the Cheesecake Factory and in the *same week*, it makes him world-celebrated?? What about submitting results for publication? And then it turns out he made a simple lookup error but no one caught it during peer-review? I'm OK with suspending disbelief, but sometimes a show doesn't make it easy. 🥴

How? Have you watched the show? I wouldn't allow any of these people into my world. Raj is a spoiled wanker, Howard is an egotistical azzhat, Leonard is an insecure brat, and Sheldon is...well, Sheldon. Even the girls are off. Penny is narcissistic and Bernadette is shady as all hell. "Don't tell my dad you're Jewish" comes to mind. Pretty sure Amy is the only one I could tolerate, and she'd get bored with my mind lol.
