I thought it would have been Sheldon who objected to that box being on the table, and, as a scientist, Amy should have known better than to bring something like that into the cafeteria. In real life, girls like Penny and Bernadette would never have hung out with Amy, no matter how nice they were. They have nothing in common for starters, and Amy is gross, socially retarded and bizarre. Saw a clip where Amy revealed that when she first started trying to be Penny's friend and she went around rubbing her scent onto, and licking things, in Penny's apartment. And Penny just makes a scrunched face when she hears that and keeps going. Yeah it's a sitcom, but it's so far from real life you can tell the writers weren't even trying. Just going for laughs, versus realism. In real life Amy would be a social pariah with the way she speaks and behaves. (and being fair - Sheldon as well.) There was also a scene where the girls were having a sleepover and Amy goes up to Penny in the bathroom off camera and tries to do some lesbian move on her and Penny yelps and chastises her...but continues to be her friend. um hm, that's realistic. !

To be fair she was just starved for attention. Her personality at the beginning was someone who had basically decided she would never get it so it was 100% career focused. Then when she met Sheldon and his friends she opened up a bit, then realizing there were girls she jumped right in showing parts of her had not been given the chance to mature. They’re all quirky as they should be, everyone is in some way, we just tend to hide it more.

Eugeniya Leshenko True, but I meant the change in their personal characters. They were quite robotic in the beginning and it was kinda weird to see how there was no sign of it by season 6. Sheldon in season 1 was nothing like himself in season 6 or 7. They could have had them reach milestones while retaining their character. Amy was introduced as a female counterpart for Sheldon but soon took form as a highly desperate and needy one which was quite annoying.
