I got told that all my life since I said I didn't want kids by strangers when they asked if I was gonna have any. Honestly, death would've been an option if I ever got pregnant. That's how much I don't want kids. I am now sterile by choice because that's how much I didn't want children. Some people don't want kids and that doesn't make their lives sad. Children should be wanted. If someone doesn't want them, they shouldn't have them. Period. If you cannot sacrifice all of yourself for your children, then don't have them.

Really? What makes you think that? Penny has had a past with bad boys and getting her heart broken. She acts tough but she has been vulnerable. While it would not have happened right away, she may have come to regard Leonard as an acquaintance, then as a friend and finally as a close friend before realising she was in love with him. Leonard was a nerd but being near Penny did change him and he became less nerdy and more sympathetic towards her. She saw him for who he wanted to be, someone who would do anything for her, including giving her up so she could be happy. Except, Penny came to realise that Leonard meant more to her than she thought. All within the bounds of possibility.
