Is it unusual for the Plaintiff's attorney in a Trust dispute case to resign prior to start of trial phase? Do Plaintiffs normally hire a different attorney for the actual trial?

It happens. It depends on whether you hired a true litigation attorney to begin with. There are quite a few trust lawyers who say they do litigation, but they have very little trial experience. Most trust trial lawyers will not resign before trial. But I have seen that happen from time to time.
