Great topic. Here in NS Canda we’ve had every one of your scenario you’ve discussed. Finding a balance between what used to be to what is takes a long time to turn around. Finding someone who is willing to stick their neck out for what is right and share with their community is a difficult task. We are slowly trying to build the club concept under the banner of the current organization. We at NSORRA do the business with the government and the clubs work in their own communities, and report to us. It’s a slow grind, but we hope it works.

I just shared this video to several pages here in Nova Scotia. I have been involved with clubs for close to 25 years. Both as a member of the executive team and regular member. Your discussion mirrors the same issues here. I have been advocating to all off road enthusiasts to join some form of club. I don’t know what the future holds for clubs here. I do foresee some form of digital representation of a club format or replacement, but I sadly don’t see the physical ambition of the online community actually getting involved in development and maintaining of the trail systems. Thank you for the comment and sharing the video. We believe strongly that clubs are the foundation on which this sport relies on, without them we are doomed. Electric may save us but without someone to negotiate and participate with local government we may get banned. I'm from Nova Scotia so my heart is there.

It's sure not easy on Vancouver Island with all the corporate owned forest land.... Some riding areas are getting replaced with subdivisions, and what's left of old trails often get taken over by mountain bike lobbyists... The bottom 3rd of the Island is owned by Timberwest, gates are going up everywhere, and they really make it difficult for people who just want a bit of recreation.
