very very interesting conversation . Though Satya and Raj were fed up with SWR , they made their point clear and in a polite way without disappointing SWR official . Bureaucratic and corrupted behavior should change .

Similar problem facing by Indian railway blocking Mumbai suburban railway network laying additional lines track and signalling modernisation. Per day about 90 lakhs commuters travelling in Mumbai suburban railway network. Still thinking Mumbaikar as cattle class. Too much bureaucratic interference and unwillingness to make big drastic reform

Lovely healthy discussion. Explains the basics , the issues and solutions . No wonder Bengaluru is such a fantastic city. Bengalureans like Raj and Sathya make up for the incompetencies and inefficiencies of the government.

A small edit at 22:00mins:- The Tender for C4 has been awarded to L&T on 30 Dec 2023. However, the land/alignment issue pertaining to C4 has NOT been sorted out, between KRIDE & SWR, even to this day!! Unless this is sorted out, work on C4 cannot start. In fact, until then awarding of tender is a mere academic exercise - Rajkumar Dugar

Very good discussion! The extension to the nearby towns have to be done now (in the next 10 years) or else it will be too late & more expensive. The MLAs, MPs from the towns like Tumkur, Ramagara have to also be involved proactively!

All ball talks presented as wisdom The real reason is that at current ticket rates , suburban rail cannot break even even in 2 decades....the famed Mumbai network and all other railways suburban networks are a loss making Social Service entity which is afloat only due to freight profitability...

The fundamental objective of any public transport infrastructure is not to make money. We are paying taxes not to create profits, but to get services in return. Fiscal health is absolutely important for sure, but profit is not why a suburban rail is needed. Local trains exist to provide service to people, not to make money. Also, most metro projects will probably never break even (across the world) - doesn't mean you don't need them.

BJP had mentioned this suburban rail project in it's manifesto that they are already working on this and will be an achievement soon. But Karnataka people voted BJP out in 2023 assembly elections. Karnataka people wanted free bus ticket for women, ban Bajrang Dal, etc. So what you get is based on whom you vote for.

So do you mean BJP is against the people of karnataka, becuase they did not vote for them. Extending the same logic the people of karnataka should treat BJP as enemies of people, anti-dharma and anti-national. Have some maturity.

You are right. All Corridors stop short of their more effective destinations. Corridor4 is from Rajankunte to Heelalige. This must be extended to Anekal. KRIDE has sought mandatory permission for feasibility study to extend the corridors. Unfortunately, unacceptably and shockingly, South Western Railways has rejected their request as explained in the video. We have written to Railway Ministry. Concerned citizens must ask their respective Public Reps to push for these extensions by KRIDE.

Sub-urban rail is not Rapid rail transport. I think IR is too focused on details and passing the time. With this attitude, I would not wonder if my grand children will see the news that KRIDE is still planning the sub-urban rail for Bengaluru.

public representatives are more interested in other things not in suburban trains, suburban trains with namma metro has a huge potential to reduce the traffic in Bangalore, but that does not convert to vote that's what their feeling is. hope that all goes well and we will get to travel in and out of city faster.

Indian railways under swr, kride, bsrp or any entity should provide airport connectivity round the clock ( at least a train every 2 hours with half general and half AC with good restrooms etc) ASAP. This will reduce traffic(police...I really pity them), pollution. From chikjala railway station, the airport is hardly 6-7 km, Indian railways is not taking up seriously...and we suffer... regards, Ravindra Kumar hg

There are dual requirements in suburban rails. 1. Local suburban train that connects small villages and towns to city, which will be done by KRIDE, and terminate at trier-2 cities (Tumkur, Bangarpet, Hosur, Kunigal, Chikkaballapur etc) 2. Indian railways can run faster trains that connect Bangalore city with tier-2 cities without stopping at small villages and suburbs.

You havent covered the timelines of how a metro got approval to Airport line faster than the speed of light, all the while when Suburban train approval was already done and their DPR doesnt mention that the "Suburban rail is not a Good viable alternative to the Metro to airport ".

This whole Bengaluru local train project is a scam of 18000 crores. Why expand 2 more lines on either side of existing lines with elevated and grade seperated lines being added when 1. existing lines is free 2. 4x2 12 rake train sets already exist and run empty in peak hours as I see it living near a rail line. 3. No stations have been made in halts and places like horamavu nagvara etc 4. Acquiring and occupying road in areas like kr puram and Whitefield road which is already a bottlenect making it a even more narrow bottlenect squeezing traffic. 5. Most of the line runs parallel to existing metro line and is redundant in east and north areas...perhaps the same in others. So let railways just run local trains with more frequency and make people aware add more stops with existing lines.1000 crore is enough which is already used inexisting trains I guess. May be get some vande metros. Don't expand lines redundantly. Also bangalore is more of a professional class city than a working class city like Chennai or Bombay metro is what people seek and Suburban rail doesn't find much takers as seen with the existing local trains which run empty. Not sure how kride even got approval for 18k crore of peoples money when the feasibility study should have failed except for some activism by vested interests. In the end they are just looking at monetising excess railway land in bangalore. Which is a gold.mine. Ideally the BSRP should just let railways run local trains running vande metro, on existing lines and more stations, fill gaps like like to airport, remove all gates with underpasses , add regional local trains to tumkiru, hosur etc etc and not waste 18000 crores destroying roads and adding dedicated lines for local trains.. The monetising of excess land should be pure IR project if necessary or better put urban miyawaki forests here to help the city breathe and put the land to good use than greed and destroy the city with concrete all over

GoK, which is one of the stake holders, is very corrupt. Also, Vande Metro is a newer concept which effectively overtakes and is much better than the BSRP. The ring rail is primarily for bypassing the congested city centre so that primarily freight trains have a free track. That is why it is only 2 tracks. Do you think there would be such a rush of people to travel between Chikkaballapura to Bangarapete that you would need 4 tracks- take it from me. Not in the next 100 years. While the discussion is sane, there seems to be a jaundiced eye towards SWR. If BSRP is so eager, let them build metros so that there could be more stations in between and more people can travel
@c4cbangalore620
@c4cbangalore620 7 ай бұрын
The very fact that both State Govt & Central Govt are continuing to build layers of wide Ring roads AND the fact that Railways wants to build a Ring around Bengaluru will suffice to answer the Q reg people commuting along these rings & need for these rings. Also, it is decades of futile pushing of Railways by many concerned citizens to provide the very service that KRIDE (BSRP) is designed to give Bengaluru, the comprehensive failure of Railways to provide reliable local commute and the present non-cooperative attitude of the Railways which have naturally resulted in "jaundice". Accountability, Transparency and Responsiveness are being given a go-by by SWR vis-a-vis BSRP & local commute. It is ONLY pressure from citizens that is resulting in some actions here & there.
