I always kind of wondered why it took Big Duo so long to take off as Big O fell down towards it. Earlier in the fight, Big Duo just easily dodged Big O, yet later, he couldn't get off the ground fast enough.

@Carolina to the Caribbean one other thing I noticed is that sometimes simultaneous events during fights in Big O are shown back-to-back as though they happened after one another. If you look over a number of the fights, I think even starting with the first episode, it becomes noticeable. In a few episodes this led to some confusion on the part of commentators, but if you watch carefully you'll realize you're seeing 'what was happening at the same time about a second or two ago' - Big O likely already started falling and Big Duo had a split-second to start his engines; Seebach flinched.

Not sure why but this song always reminds me of the episode where Rodger is trying to stop the meteor. The scenes where Big O was staring down the oncoming meteor for some reason sends shivers up my spine. Similarly, I think of both battles between Big O and Big Duo.

The Big O has an awesome story. Roger's last flashback, he sees himself being mass produced as an android/robot unit of some sort, which looked pretty similar to how Big Ears looked in the falling apart Speakeasy Lounge at the beginning of the last episode... Also notice that Schwartzwald's face did look robotic every time you could see a good shot of it. And if you pay attention to the 'truth' Michael Zebach learned, you'll find what I'm going to go on to say makes sense. It would seem they were all robot actors in a simulated reality thing, which the 'real Angel' controlled from outside of the simulated reality, which was Paradigm City itself. It seems Angel was working on a novel/book/screenplay, or something of the sort. Maybe the simulated reality literally is what your show is, and she's recording the show as it goes. That actually might make the most sense. And she keeps resetting it and changing things, hence the "40 years ago when everyone lost their memories" yet Roger and others have flashbacks and such that show them fragments of memories that they don't remember (the dead Roger in the Big O in a flashback, the Roger who made the deal with old man Rosewater, the Roger androids that were being mass produced in the flashback, etc.).

@ElementalArtist Ultimately both animated seasons are canon in the sense of the anime's story. The manga and anime do have their differences, that's for-sure! I personally love The Big O's first and second animated seasons. Its ending wasn't perfect by any means, but at the same time I do like it a lot in the sense that it reminds me of how RahXephon ended (and... I guess Evangelion, but I'm more of a RahXephon guy). Some people will say "if it didn't happen in the manga it isn't part of the story" and I get that but that's not really how I see things. If it was in an anime series, but wasn't in the manga/novel/etc., then the animated series essentially has it's own story that's slightly changed and it becomes a story of its own (in a way) if it's determined by fans/etc. to truly be that different from the original (manga, for example). I do agree, season 1 of The Big O is fantastic. I re-watch it all the time, except I watch through both seasons. : ) I own it on DVD too, but I think my copy's bootlegged. I don't mind though. ^ _ ^

@@AccelSternritter Always have to wonder just how advanced the robots are. Can they reproduce, and what did old man Rosewater mean when he called people his special tomatos? I like that at the end, even though everyone and everything may not be real, their decisions and their actions and their beliefs mattered. There was a God outside the questions of reality, and even as the last human, Roger Smith, is being erased, he is following his purpose, his belief, his desire, and his role to the end because that's what made his identity/soul/life have meaning. Even if nothing is real, unless you believe in yourself nothing will change.
