I love that Ren just pulls out a melodica like it's no big deal. 😂 This is one of my favourites but doesn't get enough love. It's beautiful and mournful and such an incredible way to sing an ode to our struggling mother Earth.

yep, lol Ren: *pulls out melodica, conjures French cafe in the middle of a cathedral* Everyone: *jaw drop* Ren: What, this old thing? edit: and yeah, I'm always so thankful when musicians write stuff that tackles what's happening/their emotions about the climate/biosphere crisis. It's so important to have art and storytelling that speaks to what's happening and the emotions we're experiencing in the midst of it. edit edit: the only thing that eclipses this for me is Neil Young's Mother Earth. Maybe if I were young *now,* this one would take the top spot, but when I heard Mother Earth for the first time in, like, 1991, I'd lived the previous near-decade with no one I knew giving a shit about climate change (for all intents and purposes there was no internet for the vast majority of us yet, so I had no way to *find* people who had any interest in talking about it) and every time I hear it it hits me like it was the first time, it was such a powerful experience. Anyway. Thank you to protest song songwriters. ❤

Yay, Swan Song! :D So glad to see more people hit this one. I love everything about it, except that I could have gone for "more traditional English folk song vibes, less French cafe vibes" on the melodica solo (which is NOT my call to make, lol, these 3 are incredible songwriter/arrangers and if French cafe atmosphere's what they wanted, French cafe atmosphere is what belonged in there, and Ren nailed it rofl) The round at the end always feels to me like ocean waves tossing me around, because the dissonances/near-dissonances that are created sort-of keep you disoriented. Gorran's lyrics are incredible, too. DEFINITELY check out his KZbin channel for the gems he has there, even though there's not much... Gorran Kendall... This song reminds me of so much good vocal harmony folk stuff from the 60s, and traditional folk music from the British Isles. I'd love to see it covered by a group with a fiddle and tin whistle... This was the first live video they shot (not sure if that includes their busking videos?) but for some reason they didn't upload it until more recently (not sure if it says that in the description under the video, or maybe Ren mentioned it on his Community page at some point?)

They could do a whole album of medieval folk songs and it would sell. They are so good at any genre - it really is amazing . I was waiting for you to get around to watching this Nav - I knew you would love it . If you want to see them be amazing in a totally different style - watch Icarus . Reminiscent of David Bowie . Gorran is the main singer in Icarus as well.

I often can't make out Gorran's voice when they sing together so it's good to be able to hear him properly. Such a beautiful song. I think I'd call the instrument that Ren was playing a...... Blowboard or a Keyblow or something along those lines 🤣🤣🤣

I've watched this a dozen times and still haven't really heard all the lyrics... just so lost in the musicality. Also, playing the melodica in your hand with no support under it is not as easy as Ren makes it appear.. he's so talented. This is one group that needs to consider a reunion.
