I used to be a perfectionist but LIFE kicked my butt! My health started deteriorating and I simply became unable to keep up with all the things. I now just do what I can, and no, I’m not always ok with that, but I’ve learned to find happiness in the little things, the small victories. I learned to give myself a break, to forgive myself, and try to have compassion for me, just like I would for any person I care about. That being said, I LOVE YOUR NEW HOUSE! I love your paint colors. I think it will be just beautiful once you get it decorated. My bedroom is painted a similar color to what Rachel chose.❤

As I've learned bits about you as a person Danni, I've realized we are very much alike. Since i believe we have walked a similar path, I hope its ok to share a couple of thoughts (FYI, I'm almost 70 y.o..) First, for the most part, being a perfectionist and a hard worker to a fault served me well. I got a lot accomplished as a single parent of two, like you. I always handled everything on my own. I really never said "I can't" or "I won't take that on" or especially "I have to rest/stop." The piece of advice I have is that you will NOT regret learning how to let things be "good enough". As another said here, you can always change things later if something really bothers you (like the paint color haha!). If you become good at this balance in life, you may save yourself the suffering I'm now going through. Because I never stopped, worked 80 hours a week for my whole adulthood, didn't get proper sleep/rest, no vacations for 30+ years, etc., my health was destroyed. The excessive stress alone of being the insane overachiever/perfectionist type takes a big toll! Instead of these being my "golden years" I spend most of my time in a chair due to pain and disease. (No ones fault but my own, so I'm not whining lol!) You are BRILLIANT for recognizing this when you still have the time to change these difficult and deep habits. You are truly an inspiration to many...Yes, for all your hardwork, but also for recognizing a "fault" within and being open/honest about yourself with your followers. You are a brave and strong woman in more ways than one!! Your home is utterly FANTASTIC and I get a very strong impression that this will be a haven of happiness for you and your kids. Keep on keeping' on Danni...we love you and support you 🤗💖

How to get through it and know that it's good enough is accepting the fact that nothing is perfect and it can always be changed later down the road. Nothing in this life is permanent. I know that you will be happier than you have ever been in this new house because you are in total charge. You can do it all. you have. You will and you will continue to. You bite off a lot but you always seem to be able to chew whatever it is you ate. One step at a time take a deep breath. Every time you feel overwhelmed. Take a break, sit in a chair. I was a perfectionist for many years and if it didn’t go the way I wanted it to, I got upset. Thirteen years ago today that all changed when my husband of 20 years suddenly passed away…..and he was 5 years younger! All the plans we so carefully made were gone in a heartbeat. I realized then that I couldn’t control everything….and often couldn’t control anything! Now, I don’t sweat the small stuff and control only is really important and don’t stress about what I can’t. My life is so much easier and much more relaxed. You’ll get there Dani.

If you ever need to have a dining table for a big dinner, you can always use the pool table as a dining table cover it with table coverings. Folding chairs are easy to come by for seating.

Beautiful back yard glad they left the Beautiful statues Home is GORGEOUS and All Yours...😊🙏suggestion I have done in past homes because of space ..took the sliding doors off closet and store at top of garage and put cover on them as doubled as storage at the top of garage, the closet put a small desk on one side and put clothes on the other and put a rod and beautiful Coordinating long Curtains that can be pulled to cover or cover just the clothes side..saved space in room.

28:30 suggestion: my husband made a wood top cover for our pool table and we cover it when we need to. It makes a nice big table when needed. Just an idea. Protects your table too. Only thing I would do differently is make it out of a different material cause it was too heavy for me to move.

Your bedroom color-way is exactly what I thought it would be, a beautiful aqua color, I love the flooring too! I’ve moved so many times and only once across town, the rest states away. I used to stress wanting perfection and nothing scratched or broken. I evolved over time to nothing irreplaceable lost or broken beyond repair and we all made it to the new place without an ER or Vet clinic involved. 🙃 I think what helped me get to the stoicism, I’d stop myself and ask if it would be as big of a deal, if I weren’t moving. The answer was almost always No! We break things, scratch things or spill red wine 🍷 on favorite clothes 🤷🏽‍♀️. We live life and find new things or vintage things and replace stuff. As long as the people and animals are ok, we’re truly blessed. You got this Dani ‼️Even if nothing goes as planned, it’ll all get done ! 🫶🏼

+-There is no harder job than moving. I am just about sure that the only move I have left is me in a box. I took down all the family photos on my hall wall today, all the bathroom decorations in the compartmented bath, as the contractors will be here next week to remodel it. That leaves all the linen cabs, the curtains, and large medicine cabinet (6 ft.) to empty. If I had to do the whole house, I'd just as soon they put me in that box now. I don't envy you in the least but I wish you all the success in the world. You are one busy lady. I never get done decorating. I have redone my house about 4 times in the last 20 years and I love planning and collecting things so much that by the time I get finished with one thing, it's time to start over.

I suggest anything large (think pool table) that you are unsure of whether you want to move it... put a price on it that is high enough that you'd be HAPPY to sell it for... if it sells, you can always find another! If it doesnt sell, then you were meant to keep it!

Perfectionist here. I get it . I was always so stressed out. Redoing things others had done and second guessing myself all the time. I wasted a lot of time and energy on that . Especially since I expected others to do the same as I did. I was forced to say 'good enough' after my last surgery. I was a sewist and fiber artist and quilter. I can no longer do it since my hands have nerve damage now. It's sort of weird . Numb and they feel like they are on fire. I have to learn how to walk properly again too. It's hard but look at things and ask yourself if you would expect the same level of perfection in someone else's house and comment on it. If you wouldn't expect it of a friend then don't push yourself .
