For anyone keen to know what a “handicap is” in more detail. This is basically a head start or number of extra shots a golfer is given per hole or per round and is based on their overall ability (e.g new golfers start with a higher handicap which allows them a higher number of strokes to par). It’s a way of levelling the playing field in a sport where one of the great things is that anyone can play against anyone and have a competitive game. 🤝

You all need to stand a tad closer to the ball. You can see in almost every stance set up you’re reaching forward to the ball so then in your swing you just toe toe toe and that just sends it right. The other half club face is left wide open. If you can’t fix it, take the professional approach. Tiger always said his best shots were when he hit where he was planning to aim not where the best point was. If you always hit right, give yourself space so aim to the left, I’m not saying aim into the woods but aim left rough or left fairway depending on how wide your dispersion is, then if it lands left then you can be happy it’s safe and where you aimed. If you miss hit it right then you’re happy bc it’s in a good spot! Cheers boys!

Are you saying to focus on the result rather than the shot at hand? E.g learning to drive and not focusing on the end of the bonnet but the road ahead to gain clarity and stability? I'm really sorry I'm a complete golf newbie but I'm interested in your take?

@@azzydazzy2705 I’d say for each shot only take two things into consideration: 1) your shot! What does that mean? Everyone has a dispersion to their shot, even the pros. Pros may get their dispersion down to, say 20 yards, and yours may be 70 yards, but it still works the same. So play to your dispersion, not to where the best shot may be. Just bc center fairway sounds perfect, doesn’t mean aim there bc what are the chances you hit a perfect shot? Especially if 20yds right of center fairway is a water hazard and you have 40yds dispersion that tends to go right! 2) consider hazards, OB, and anything you don’t play well out of FOR THE NEXT SHOT ONLY! This is more of a beginner approach. Of course pros do this too, but they also want to set themselves up for better shots and have the skill to do so. So while Scottie may not aim somewhere bc of a downhill lie, that downhill lie is still better than a drop bc you went in the drink! I’ll take a par 4 for example. Let’s say you have a 50 yard dispersion, where, aside from an outlier, you slice the ball. The fairway may only be 35 yds wide but there is semi ruff to the left that is an extra 10yds and ruff to the right is nasty right before a water hazard. You should aim on the edge of that left semi ruff for your drive! Maybe even a little into the left full ruff if your dispersion that day is close to its maximum (ie you’re hitting a slice the hardest you normally do). Worst case scenario you end up in semi ruff that is manageable and you can feel good about your drive bc you hit direct at your aim point (left semi ruff) and best case you miss hit slightly and end up in the fairway and not the water!
