My favorite moment from Bumgarner was in the 2014 Wild Card game. He was well on his way to a complete game 8-0 shutout. But at the same time he went 0-4 at the plate and on his last an-bat (a swing and miss strikeout) he started shouting "DAMMIT, FUCK!" before he had even finished his swing.

The 3 guys who scared the HELL out of people in the batter's box were. 1. Randy Johnson -- Look up the John Kirk VS Johnson all star game clip 2. Nolan Ryan -- 107+ MPH fastball, and won several fights in games vs batters. 3. Josh Gibson -- Would Knock down his own mother with a high fastball to get an out. He scared everyone. Many debate Nolan's fastball and Bob fellers. But recall that Bob threw 99 MPH as it crossed the plate, which would've been 107 MPH out of the hand where modern pitchers are measured. Nolan threw 101 MPH at the plate, which would be over 108. Hank Aaron said that he had to go up there guessing against Ryan because the ball was so fast , all he could do was hear it go by sometimes.

Nah I love Mad Bum. The best postseason pitcher in baseball right now. I'm not a Giants fan either but I'm into the the unwritten rules, only 28 too. And because of this, this is why the Giants have been my most liked team besides my favorite (Cubs) because they seem old school. No showboating, no all-eyes-on-me mentalities, players aren't wearing neon colored accessories or non-team colors... just nice old school baseball and even better, they're actually good and win!

MadBum is a Giants legend. You see a lot of jerseys around the park with the number 40 and snotrocket for the name. We love him because he is so old school. He's a brawling from the old days, a pitcher who rakes and can throw on two days' rest if needed. He brought fire to the Giants. And Game 7 of the 2014 World Series is baseball majesty. I remember saying before the bottom of the 9th that anyone who tries to tell Bumgarnet he isn't going back out there will wake up next week.

As a Giants fan, I will always love MadBum, and the man still lives on his Farm in NC, he just happens to play baseball and is still pretty good at it. People can hate on Madbum all they want, he had possibly the greatest postseason of any pitcher ever, and was a consistent Ace for the better part of 3-4 seasons. I'm not a huge fan of how upset he gets at the unwritten rules bc I think those are stupid, but like it seems to be pretty 50/50 across the league on that anyway

I recall, in the same year, Deadspin thought MadBum was the shit, and that Yordano Ventura was the "surliest little shit" in baseball. Deadspin cited the staredown with West as the reason they thought he was a "bad baseball man." Deadspin just projects, and deflect their own biases. It was great to see Terry Bolea take them down. And I got no issue with MadBum. Guy is your traditional red-assed, old school baseballer. And one of the best post-season pitchers of all time.
