There is a misconception among some not familiar with elk hunting in the mountains and that is just how difficult and arduous these hunts can be, even if you don't end up packing meat out. I've packed out three elk by myself and it took hours and multiple trips. The relief and release of emotions after finding a downed animal is also a unique experience. We feel joy, satisfaction, and even some sadness and remorse for taking such a beautiful animal. Great job, you guys never cease to amaze me, you are outstanding hunters. Well done!

He was mentioned at a WDFW seminar. Yes. It was anti hunting seminar. He and his entire family were described as hunting for fun, covering the forest like a gillnet. And very efficiently. He definitely seems like an accomplished hunter. Seems like a very nice kid. Not sure its a positive thing. WDFW activist certainly made it clear they do not care about hunter tags sales when they have a surplus in general fund. We are screwed. This guy is their point. We lost spring bear and this guys is partially to blame. Highlights the efficiency of modern equipment, spanning the forest in large groups and modern rifles. We are screwed with these WDFW activists.
@SamongOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
@@gb3450 Do you have a link to the seminar?
@gb34502 жыл бұрын
@@SamongOutdoors I will try and find it. It was a sponsored by Center for Biology Diversity. Two ladies on WDFW board were guest speakers, which drew my attention to it. We will never have a spring bear hunt again. And we will lose every fight in support of hunters if this is not resolved. They don’t care about us or our money. Your celebrations and appearances of over harvest was highlighted in the seminar. It sold that you hunt in a blanket group of up to 20 hunters and harvest everything, everywhere you can. I don’t believe their facts, but it definitely is worth asking. Since I have you here. Does anything walk or you kill anything and everything? Just asking. You seem like a very nice kid from a good family, so literally just asking.
@BMCBryce2 жыл бұрын
@@gb3450 Are you serious? Are you really asking Samong if he kills everything he sees? Have you watched any of his videos? Including this one you commented on? That’s one the stupidest thing I have ever seen someone say. Clearly you do not have any idea what you’re talking about. If you’re being sincere, than you need to back up and see what Samong is all about. He is NOT all about just “blanket hunting” as you described. Come on man. Be better than that.

Congratulations on your bull Samong! It's amazing how loud these bulls can be while browsing through the woods. I hunt Blacktails and Roosevelts in the Western Oregon Trask unit. Two buck seasons ago on the last day and 5 days before elk season, I was still-hunting toward my stand behind an old fallen log when I heard obnoxious rustling through the forest undergrowth about 60 yards away and @20 yards in the forest, I thought who would be making so much noise and I was actually annoyed at it; but to my surprise, out pops two bulls, a young 4x5 and a 5x5 casually browsing on vine maple and huckleberry. I videoed the whole encounter on my phone, but I haven't seen them since. This year, I hunted the adjacent valley and found where 6 or more cows and a real nice 4x5 buck (seen during bull elk season) like to hang out, can't wait for next year, hopefully I'll see them during their respective buck and bull seasons. I'll be 60 then going on 41. Never Stop!
