THE BIGGEST DOWN FALL TO THE PONTIAC GTO! *DRIVELINE*

Guibo = Gweeb,o Owned my GTO since 2008 and I've broken.. Curb related: Drive Rear Control Arm, Rear Suspension Cradle, Driver half shaft axle, driver side strut, 2 Rims Not Curb Related: 1 diff, 1 drive shaft, 6 transmissions and torque converters.. 2 radiators, 2 alternators, 1 waterpump, Rear Main Seal, Blaupunkt Stereo And still only making around 437 rwhp After the 6th transmission died, I swapped in a t56. I have 300+ passes at the track and each of the A4 transmissions died when cruising on the highway NOT under WOT. All of them experienced the infamous loss of 4th and 3rd. EVERY problem the GTO platform ever had, mine has experienced. Thanks for taking me down memory lane; now I'm depressed.

I already changed my axles and axle stubs and differentials before anything broke by doing my research 🧐. P.S. you forgot to mention changing the cradle mount bushings to solid or poly.

Wavetrac, 1400hp axles, carbon driveshaft, Harrop cover, quad centric thingies and the rest of little stuff that goes, also did energy bushings on the rear cradle

Definitely need to upgrade the clutch master cylinder to a Tick performance one if you want to shift at high rpms

Plenty of aftermarket parts still being made in Australia, the rear end is the same from base model commodore 1997 to 2006 GTO specs other than diff gears...

Did your GTO have stock rear coil spring pads? I'm trying to figure out which pads to buy with my new rear coil springs. I can't find any info on what the stock size was. 6mm? 10mm? 12mm?

Had my gto about 6 months. I’m already looking to order a trans rebuild, one piece drive shaft, motor mounts, trans mount, diff mount, and pedders rear camber adjustment as I have coil overs already

rear end seems to be a problem but with that another huge factor is the driver imho. Did you ever get it dyno'd yet and if so, what were the end numbers? As always the goat still looking fresh.

Nothing against manual trans but they are much harder on the driveline then the auto trans.

say man I got an 05, I've had it a lil over 3 years now, here recently ever time I floor it I get this weird ass smell can't figure out were the hell it's comin from it smells like something burning, like a sour burning smell I guess hell I dunno, thought maybe it may be my belt slippin but looks good, no exhaust leaks, any ideas?

It could possibly be your transmission getting really warm and burning off fluid somewhere. Maybe your catalytic converter is really heating up and burning some crud out.

Just put a 9-in Ford and be done with it or an 8.8 they're just as good and don't say it can't be done cuz I already did it and my POS 04 GTO
