I am a Shafi’i and although I follow the Shafi’i jurisprudence in Fiqh, I do not differentiate Our Imams and Scholars and I have unconditional Love & Respect for them. My dad, who is a Maliki scholar, used to say that Imam Malik co-lived with "Tabeen", the children of Sahaba in Madina and are very very close to the time of the Prophet PBUH. Many of Imam Malik's ruling are based on what he "witnessed" the Tabeen do .. He had the belief that Tabeen and their parents were there at the late stages of the life of Prophet PBUH and therefore their practices supercede some hadith which could be overridden. This may not be obvious to us who came 1400 years after and had little to no formal education about Fiqh. The Tabeen of course is second best generation after Sahaba .. so no argument about their adherence to the Sunnah.

If we were to put the Mudawwana aside for a moment which states that Imam Malik prayed sadl as mentioned by Ibn Al Qassim through Sahnoon, is there other references from Imam Shafee'i or other senior students of Imam malik who mentioned him praying sadl? And how can there be ijma' if sadl is from the practice of ahl al madinah whom were taught prayer by the best of generations by the children of the Sahaba. For 13+ centuries, the 4 Madhabs of Ahlul-Sunnah lived, tolerated and respected one another and even intermarried without considering one another sects. Even the Imams were contemporaries of one another and we have never heard that they had conflicts or issues with each other. In fact, they had deep respect for each other even though they sometimes differed in opinions in Fiqh issues. What is your motive in trying to create such a rift between Muslims of the 4 Madhabs?
