Thanks. How about hiring a VA (and later an EA) to farm out the editing?

Prudent points but it’s more relevant to know what specific process you recommend for building profits. As industrialist Andrew Carnegie used to say, watch the pennies and the pounds take care of themselves. You also emphasize quantity over quality and this is not good in business, from my personal experience and from everything I’ve read about America’s most successful industrialists. For instance, you say flash photography is time consuming. Well, when you have two or more different light sources from interior lights and daylight thru windows competing and causing color shifts on tables and floors and you don’t use flash pops to offset this then more time is wasted in Lightroom and Photoshop trying to fix the color balance in post rather than doing it correctly at the source in the house. Quality must always be foremost over quantity. This is what differentiates poor quality photography from great photography. And, better quality generates more client referrals.

Interesting take. How often do you think a potential home buyer looks at a photo and thinks, “I don’t want to buy that house because I can see color shifts on the table and floor” If I’m not mistaken, he’s basically saying that for real estate photography, which is only used by clients for a relatively short duration, a 90% ideal photo is good enough. The extra time you spend on that last 10% only matters to you…. the artist. 😎

It's all about balance. If your your clients or market cares a lot about quality and are willing to pay more for it, that's where you should focus. If they care more about speed and budget, then you may need to scale down some quality. You need to compromise a bit to avoid the point of diminishing returns. However there are some markets like designers and architects who do pay more attention to the quality, which is where you can spend more time, use Flambient techniques, and use accurate color correcting methods and charge much more for it. As long as the price offset a the time. Every market has different expectations and needs. So study your market well and design your product or service to fit that market.
