I believe how fast the pocket is growing is based on the "pulsing" animation. When you have low heat, it pulses for a bit and stops. When you have sufficient heat, it pulses continuously, and that is probably the maximum speed

Something to consider, when you started pumping gas to the left and it was high 2s and 3s, could just use 1 horse to sell just a little to keep a slight influx of money without having to worry about the debt. That one horse will get you enough money in just 1 or 2 sells typically.

I thought the same, but that would create a choke point and you could only get one biggest pipe worth of oil out of the reig at a time. Classic computer science problem. Just need a bus up the top. So a row of pipes just below the surface that travels along connecting to each rig above, then branch from there to the oil below. Then you have a pipe that'll let you go to any rig/company from anything below that. Set up two of those and you'll be able to double pipe to anywhere

I think when connecting the rig to oil pockets, doing it with two connected pipes instead of one would make things a lot easier for you. It would give you more options to move more gas later on without being bottlenecked by a single pipe somewhere in your network.

I recommend 2-3 drills because, even though its more expensive and less storage, you can get more oil out at a time, which means fewer loans early in the game and makes it easier to convert to gas earlier in the game. You sometimes only use one drill, and i think that that strategy simply isnt as efficient as it could be
@toni7575Ай бұрын
it would be useful to drill a very short shaft straight away down from the drill and then branch out, that way you can use the system to pump gass

@neovoid5008Ай бұрын
22:47 you could have unlocked the point at the rig so that the other gass pockets could be used to push the price up at the same time as the pockets on the left and middle... Though this was awful infrastructure this time unlike the last one that you didn't pump at the same time. The kee point of double piping gass is that you can use all the pockets all at once to pump instead 1 pocket in a long chain of pockets. The price will sky rocket fast and you can have more time to grow them too if done at the last minute. Often times I see that you have to sell early even though the gass pockets haven't been drained, or start the gassing much earlier to drain all the gass pockets. The bubles give you an indicator of how much is pumping in. If it looks like small bursts of bobbles, then you need better gass conection due to the choke point. Like in this example you could have unlocked the top rig connection from the start to pump it faster. Also I believe you can lock the point below the oil company. That may or may not be useful. So instead of being indecisive about pumping gass 1 at a time you need to do it all at once. Even if you think you're too early or late it has to be all at once. If there is a choke point where bubbles don't flow smoothly open up even more spots. I hope to see a mythical 8 dollar price some day. Maybe a 7 dollar in the next vid. That could have been the 60 point land but you didn't utilize both pipes at all to pump the gass. Thats why you had extra gass even at a 5.70 buck rang.

Would it be better to drill to magma first and then split off to the oil pockets, instead of the other way around. That way you can close off and grow gas without blocking routes for other oil. It also sets up a route for the gas later on, but you may want to add more routes as well before the big pump.
@jonas8708Ай бұрын
Selling is definitely not bettter than loans in the early game. When you sell you make about 5x less off the oil than you would, but loans are at most 2-3x as expensive as the money you get

In the second land, the number of big pipes connecting to the company determines your max throughput of gas, in this case two big pipes. But since most of your gas was coming across map you pumped at a rate of one big pipe for a long while, there was only one big pipe connecting the big gas pocket to the rest of your system. When you opened up the lower-left pocket your net throughput reached two big pipes. The graphic is a little hard to see, the small blue diamonds represents gas throughput (much like when oil starts to dry up and you see the black line get choppy). A solid line of blue diamonds is max, 2-3 blue diamonds seems like half throughput. :D

14:45 "obviously, selling is better than loans in the earlygame" I disagree, the price earlygame is ~$1, you plan to sell for ~$4 or more. Loans with interest cheaper than 300% overall (~12%/mo at the beginning of the game, 16% in april, 26% in june, 58% in october), are worth it. In that moment you were trying to choose between an 11%/mo loan with 11.5months left (232% interest or 3.32x) or selling oil at a dollar vs probably $4 or $5 later (4x - 5x "loss"). But you may not be able to store all the oil, which makes this all more complicated. Not obvious at all!

I think he should make a singular downward column of pipes from the first oil rig, to create a "Spine" that he can launch filiment pipes from, so he can connect on BOTH sides of that oil rig. Just regular stops every few units down: so he has plenty of nodes to branch from. So he's not stuck trying to curl pipes AROUND the main branch. Maybe I'm wrong.

nodes block gas and frankly downward column sounds kinda ass. I propose horizontal line of pipes right near the surface and then do all connections from it's nodes. Then you always have at least one line to get oil through while you r growing gas

You aren't getting choke points from smaller pipes, I mean you are but your actual chokepoints are bad node layouts. Having two big pipes to the seller is great and all but the majority of your gas was bottlenecked to one pipe. You had the opportunity to relieve that by making another pipe at the bottom to let more gas through but didn't even mention that. You need to stop making long pipes that have maxed out nodes if you want to have the gas interconnect. Shorter pipes, smarter nodes, only max out a node if you have a way around it or if it's not needed for gas transport

The big thing that I notice that will really help the run is not being too conservative on gas. Spending a couple thousand plus 6 months interest on infrastructure just to only get half the gas out of a pocket is definitely a large part of that 20k debt . Gas raises price on a curve so if you’re starting in September by middle of November you’re gonna be growing too slow to keep doing 1 pocket a time. You could make less gas but it’s better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it. I’d just say by late November/early December if you have any gas just slam it all at once and see if you can get a quick spike.
