At 14:20 the small ripples aren’t bait. They r peacock fry. The big one u kept missing is most likely the parent. Considering how aggressive it was, 1 cast with a sinking lure would probably have been enough to entice a solid take.

That 8 pounder wasn't a butterfly, it was a cross breed between a butterfly and an "açu". You can see that by the 3 stripes and the 3 dots. In the amazon it's common for breeding to occur between the different species of peacock bass

I really enjoyed this trip, so many awesome fish and the most insane topwater hits😎 them chopper lures sure make a interesting noise, so ill be looking into making some similar to that! Would you take a diving popper on a trip like this? Also I see most of the guys are using baitcasting reels as opposed to spinning, any particular reason for that or is it just personal preference? Lawson as a mostly salt water fisherman how do do these Amazon peacocks fight compare? I fished for peacocks in Miami and wasn't blow away like I thought I would be, River small mouth fight harder. But even those dont compare to Jack's, lol...

If you can catch a very large Arapaima roughly 8 ft long you’ll be set as nobody can top that fish. It’s maximum recorded size is 9 ft 3 in and that record wasn’t beaten so far. Just be wary as piranhas can destroy your lines and baits easily they can easily chew right through 100 lb wire. Just um don’t go to the bathroom in the river because of that one tiny catfish and you really don’t want emergency surgery um down there.
