Paddy’s advice: Keep your chin high in the air
@davidforrest6730
@davidforrest6730 Жыл бұрын
That's great advise, losing a fight teaches you alot about yourself. Paddy fights like he can't be knocked out but after his first ko in the UFC he will change alot for the better and I think we will see champion material then. But for now with his chin floating like a kite and him investing alot in it, that's going to cost him eventually. Tom has said before he used to travel all over for fights but no one wanted to fight him and he struggled to get any

Imo you should just have your first amateur mma fight probably within 6-8 month if consistent mma training, no point competing and purely training a sport where a lot of habits and most techniques don’t carry over to mma.

@@christophermorrison2626What if you train each sport individual like Muay Thai, JJ, wrestling, some boxing etc, would you be ready or would I need to transition to MMA experiences
@rico14
@rico14 3 ай бұрын
@@christophermorrison2626that’s not smart though, because everyone you fight will have a lot more experience than you. You could face a D1 wrestler you’re first fight who has massive amounts of experience over you. I would say with striking or grappling that’s fine, but with mma you should train for at least a year.
@christophermorrison2626
@christophermorrison2626 3 ай бұрын
@@rico14 the chances of you faxing a d1 wrestler in your first couple of BBC amateur fights are very unlikely and you can definitely with the right team and schedule etc compete in your first amateur fight within 6 month of training but I do agree with you in that span of 6 month compete in wrestling and grappling aswell

I though it’s strange he said purple belt was pretty good back then not like it is now, when good competitive purple belts can be absolute savages nd have often been training several years
@Dippa666
@Dippa666 28 күн бұрын
Its not that top level purple belts were better then, its because the belt system has been watered down over the years due to more and more people getting promoted due to time on the mats despite not being good. Thats why nowadays theres blackbelts who can be beaten by a competitive blue belt etc.

Ive been training kickboxing for 18 months, and wrestling and BJJ here and there throughout those 18 months. I'm long over due for my first fight...whether it be amateur kickboxing or amateur mma. I do really well in sparring, so stand up is the way to go for me. God Bless. 💯🥊🤼🥋♾️

@@YwouldntiIt depends how old are you, if you’re pretty young go hard learn each martial art individually (wrestling,bjj,Muay Thai, boxing), and that’s what I’m doing currently I’m gonna do it for some time at least one year + each and then completely transition into just MMA training, and from there you could still take some individual classes that you think you lack in, whether it would be in grappling or striking, and also watch all the type of fights at home including pro, amateur fights and sparrings, and take your time, what I’m doing currently go hard for the 5 days of the week and have the weekends as rest, btw start to go harder as you take it more seriously, don’t overdo it as a beginner you can injure yourself and you have to adjust to a compete whole training system, there will be some really dark days (depression, no motivation, fear, pain and injuries) mostly mental so focus on making yourself as tough mentally because that’s the key which many people lack but as long as you don’t give up and keep going you will be fine, also it will take a lot of motivation videos and etc, anyway enjoy the process, live your life and etc.

I’m planning on starting BJJ soon at a local club. How long would you recommend doing that before adding in kickboxing/ wrestling too? Also, do you do separate weight training or just do everything in the class?
