Being the gritty and top-of-the-bunch NWSL goal-scoring forward that Hatch is, she ought to be on this roster. If any team decides to knock them around like Ireland did recently, I'd like to see Hatch in there dishing it right back. Speaking as a forward and comparing her to other forwards, Rapinoe isn't an impressive player. Leave her off for Hatch, who can also score PKs just as well and do much more. I'd like to hear the coach's rationale for some of these decisions.

You ask who should be bumped if Hatch is added. That's easy. Thompson should not be on the roster. She is a frail physically under developed high school kid with 3 caps. We have no idea how she'll perform at the WC level with that limited sample size. I want substance over flash. It's a travesty. Who backs up Morgan? Hatch has chemistry with Rodman. Hatch's experience and body of work blows Thompson out of the water. Hatch's club play is producing better results than Thompson and even Rodman. Hatch unlucky but luxury, not necessity, on this roster, given both Sophia Smith & Lynn Williams #9 versatility & efficacy at club level. Williams has been just as prolific as Hatch in NWSL, has more WNT caps/experience, while her speed, pressing ability, & tireless defensive work are all critical to Vlatko’s system. Especially missing Mallory Swanson, Alyssa Thompson’s game-changing speed, flare, & 1:1 audacious challenges needed more than traditional target CF limited to only that position. Frankly also question whether Hatch is world-class caliber. No doubt watching Thompson that she belongs at this level. Finally, Rapinoe’s advanced age, fitness, & minutes limitation on wing further demands another viable threat there; yet, her leadership & penchant for clutch play rising in the biggest moments necessitates her roster inclusion, politics aside. P.S.- Ertz returning as key set-piece aerial threat further undermined Hatch’s case. P.P.S.- Hatch also benefits at club level from silver-platter service courtesy of both Sanchez & Rodman (criminally underrated for her vision & playmaking, aside from scoring prowess). Yes, Hatch is a quality player but in isolation does not deserve a WC spot over any of the aforementioned players.

Crucially, Krueger also shined in only WNT call-up game appearance. Significantly more athletic, faster, & better defensively than Emily Sonnett (& Sofia Huerta, for that matter) while offering similar CB/FB flexibility. Like Naeher, she has been more a victim of Chicago’s hapless play than an individual culprit this season-to-date. You can get back to that when you're playing days are over. When I was watching Mia H days I was also taking my Advanced National Course and what I loved about those teams were when one scored , they all came charging together to celebrate. I wanted to be an assistant coach on that team. Now, more and more, after scoring you run away from your team and make them catch you. (Not just you) I hope you do win, you are a much better player than I was guessing before watching. Good luck, GO USA. Hatch doesn’t bring anything to the team, she’s been called up multiple times since 2016 & has never made it as a regular until now, shes only has 19 caps!!!, Lavelle Debuted in 2017 ffs!!! She’s great at club level but unfortunately that’s not the same for the national team. Personally I see her as more of a ‘Filler’ type of player, she fills the spot when someone else’s unavailable. Maybe that will change in a few years, maybe it won’t but I think Vlatko was smart to take Thompson over Hatch, she’s the future of the team, Hatch isn’t.

thompson hasn't provided anything to her nwsl team.. LA sucks. Her only notoriety is from being young. Hatch is gritty and fights, which is what the us womens team has built a culture around. This seems like a bench warmer's opinion.

Disagree, I would take Hatch over alot of the current forward picks. Dont forget hatch is a late minute sub. If you ask me Vlatko is taking too many old players and thompson who is too small, why not replace thompson with Bethany Balcer who is a baller, or Morgan Weaver who is also a baller. Thompson has nothing compared to the players i just mentioned. I will rate thompson next year when she bulks up. Either way I hope all the roster players do well.

@@aubrey3308 Thompson is still very young & it’s not completely her fault for what’s happening with Angel City, a team isn’t one person, easiest person to blame would be the coach, but it could be that the defence & midfield are the problem.

@@TheNotoriousNemo Hatch doesn’t bring anything unique that one of the forwards don’t already. If Swanson or Macario was still an option Thompson wouldn’t even be going nor would Demelo. Thompson mostly just brings speed but she’s still young & the mentorship of Morgan or Rapinoe could do a lot for her game in the future.

Rooting for USWNT to lose. Total trash that Hatch got snubbed. She won the golden boot last year in the top women's league in the world. She's pacing to eclipse those stats this year. You all advocating for Rapinoe over Hatch is insane.

hatch didn’t deserve a spot. she’s just eh. rapinoe is a better leader and thompson is a better player. she’s just not good enough

disagree, thompson has shown she is a mid level player who is frail. Rapinoe is a leader? like off the field? because on the field she has been a former shell of herself who should have been replaced by bethany balcer or morgan weaver far superior forwards. I like thompson, but I believe she will be better next year with more professional play time.

@@TheNotoriousNemo lmao have you watched thompson?? way cleaner than hatch. faster too. rapinoe is a leader, every player on the uswnt has said that. i’m gonna take the players word on that, not a random who’s never even met any of them💀. rapinoe skill wise has gone down, but she’s a very intelligent player and clutch in stressful situations. pk’s and free kicks are all her. she’s worth taking. there’s no one else with her level of experience/leadership/precision/high pressure calmness.
