Euro 2004 has a lot of surprises. Aside from that Greece's historic, big teams like Germany, Italy, and Spain flopped a lot. They didn't make through the quarterfinals after came 3rd in the group. Germany and Spain were the Euro 2008 finalists, while Italy won the World Cup two years later after that disappointing exit, which was controversial because Denmark and Sweden had caused the "Disgrace of Gijon" thing at the same time by playing a stalemate 2-2 draw.

The biggest underdog in the 2024 euro cup is England because despite playing like absolute garbage they've somehow gotten bailed out with late goals every time and made the finals But in all seriousness, Georgia deserve recognition for defying all odds and defeating Portugal to advance to the knockout stage in their first ever Euro Cup appearance while being ranked outside of the top 70 in FIFA rankings. They played much better than England this year even if the end result doesn't show it. Credit to Slovakia as well for an upset win against Belgium in the group stage and very nearly making the quarterfinals, prevented only by a very lucky bounce into the net for England in stoppage time, and also Romania for finishing 1st in that same group.

Wales and Poland also are Underdogs. Wales wins the group with Russia, England and Slovakia, eliminates Northern Ireland en 1/16, Belgium in Quarter Finals and loses against Portugal, te champions this year. Poland ends the Group Stage with the same points than Germany but ended second, the other members of the group are Northern Ireland and Ukraine. In 1/16 finals defeat Switzerland in penalties but lost against Portugal in penalties.

Most of the team were playing cl every year and had arleady faced/win most of the players you mentioned me in the knockouts. Haristeas wasnt a good player in general, he wasnt even in the top 10 of the Greek players back then, but he was used perfeclty as a target man in the turnament. But I guess cl knockout players are shit if you say so. You need to understand that there is football below the 4 top leagues as well. A XI with players playing the best team of the 6th league in europe is good enough to do well in a knockout turnament, we had a good manager and some luck as well and we won it. I find funny the way you thing, beacause most people today find Portugal as favourites to win the euro even thought most of their players play in Porto,Benfica and Sporting.
