I’d say that to make sure you don’t lose the attention span of your viewers, I think it’s best you mainly focus on your imperial palace piece. Still push though with your other projects, but be sure that you can finish a module of your city as well. (Not intending to offend you in any way- That is my main fear!) I also found that people really liked when you made your own pieces, as you are the person who makes cool stuff after all!

I'd say to go for this chunk of the palace then move back to middle-earth as it could help with the algorithm

I’d agree that the Imperial City is great and would love to see it finished or at least this part. LOTR is great but not as current for audiences. Great video! I’m trying to interact with it as much as possible to support the channel.

A bit biased comment but carry on with empiral palace like a film series building up the hype for the next instalment instead of going to a new project leaving people to forget about the board. Basically finish each project one by one

I love MESBG more, but I would expect it to get less views so go for finishing this project. Probably more efficient as well for your time.
@ClintFrost-vb2hf9 ай бұрын
I think you should just make mini-series. These couple months finish one project, the go to the next. That way you get the boost to your motivation when a project is completed and released. Then it will be less pressure on your shoulders.

Also, as a viewer, I much prefer it, because it feels like things are happening and progress is being made, and even though this isn't a project I particularly cared about, now I'm interested in it and want to see the end.

@@Zorpazorp I found that in my model painting as well, doing batch painting is more efficient but it's so much more fun to do one at a time and get that feeling of completing a model gives me the motivation to do the next and that's what its all about being motivated to go straight into the next model and a motivated hobbyist is a happy and more productive hobbyist I find. Plus the models tend to come out better as you don't hit the point where you go screw this I just wanna be done and start rushing/not taking as much care as you would normally and you end up with a worse model and less motivation to paint more. It's so nice to see you so excited about your work it really shows in how amazing the board is looking.

Referring to your question on how to structure the release schedule. Recent block of Imperial Palace videos was very good and interesting. Im glad you followed the communities hints on how to increase viewer attention. Its working well. I understand that after such a run you may be in need for a break/ breather in the Imperial Palace series. You suggested hopping in to another big project like Minas Tirith. I think this would be going back to the previous habits of the channel that you are trying to change Please cosider another option. Make a one-off video about something completeley different, exactly as as break from the big modeling projects. A break for the viewers and for you as well. It could be something remotely related or heck, even completely unrelated to miniature wargaming. Go outside, NZ is fascinating on its own and lots of people around the world dream about visiting it, but are not able to. Show us the local mini stores, gaming communities, maybe more LOTR related locations? You can tie in gaming topics into many contexts. Maybe you have some more Weta Workshops material left? Do a self contained episode on anything, then go back to the big projects. Your brain will get a moment of rest and youll figure out what will be the best next step.
@ethankinney5519 ай бұрын
I 100% support this idea! A one off video on another aspect of hobbying in NZ then back to the mega project (Ministireth???!) would be great.
@MarkBeetham9 ай бұрын
This is a good call! The main reason most of us watch your videos is because we like your personality and enthusiasm. You could easily get away with putting out the occasional lower effort video that focuses on some other part of the hobby. Get some interaction with other people in there. You're a great presenter (see Weta Workshop series), so you could lean into that and give your painting hand a break.
@gpm24cam9 ай бұрын

I think it is perfectly fine to switch between projects! Taking a break in a massive project like this or Minas TIrith is not the same as not finishing the project at all. So I would say that as long as you come back to a series in a reasonable amount of time, you won´t hear people complaining. And I think you´re doing great! Switching between big projects is exactly what the community pointed out as what they dislike and what is lowering their involvement in the channel.
@borna12319 ай бұрын
@@maciejbarwicki Was it though? If I remember correctly, it was moving on from an unfinished project only to return to it months later with a smallsih update, then moving on again etc. I didn´t get the feeling that the gist of that critcism was "we want only one project from start to finish, no breaks". But I might be remembering that wrong. But my first point still stands: I don´t think having two massive parallel builds is a problem if they both get videos consistently so as to not feel irrelevant. Keep in mind, these are huge projects that take a toll on a person. Burnout is a real possibility for Zorp if he´s not careful. I´d much rather have 2-3 videos of one project, then 2-3 videos of something one, then back to the first one etc, if that means Lachie gets a well deserved mental break from the grind.
@mattiasgamin38919 ай бұрын
A bit alarming maybe that of all comments the one that suggest swishing back and forth between projects is the one that gets an immediate reply by Mr Zorpazorp. 🙂 But I get it, it’s tiring to continue on a project, but then again so is the case in most professions. At the end of the day each person have to do what is good for them, not for others. Would love to see Zorpazorb continue! 🤗

I think that fully completing an specific block of a megaboard within a 3/4-video series is definitely the most enjoyable formula for viewers to follow such a great masterpiece. This one is great cause it combines some foam crafting, painting and also integrates plastic GW kits. I think a few people mentioned it before when you were at the point of talking about the struggles. Keep with a build and complete it before moving on. An idea for the second trench/modular idea. You could make a huge fortified freestanding tower. In a lot of the artworks for Terra and other accuminopolises there are truly sky tearingly tall structures. A free standing tower in the middle of a trench could have mini bridges attaching it on various levels to the tiles either side allowing for units to pop in and out of it at various locations!

Loving the new format of completing sections as opposed to "production-lining" projects. My mind screams that it's not as efficient, but you've inspired me to do this on my own projects and it really is satisfying to see things actually getting FINISHED. As to what next, I think variety is nice if you feel it necessary, but I think pushing through and finishing will feel great, give you something you can really show off for promotionals (or sell!) If you do decide you need a change (as good as a holiday, they tell me) I don't think you should switch between more than two projects at any one time, otherwise you might end up losing momentum - this is definitely something I find with my own work. So choose one other project to alternate with this one - Middle Earth is a nice change of pace, but I think don't have more than that on the go at any one time.

Great to see you banging out a few videos bud. I really missed your enthusiasm and the motivation it brings me. 40k not really my thing but I’d love to see you finish off the Imperial Palace before jumping back into Middle Earth.

I love your enthusiasm and your creativity. I vote for the imperial palace, i could spend hours to watch you building the last stand of the imperium

Definitely would like to see this project through to the end before starting something new. I’m invested now! Also it would be great to see a bit more of the final product once it’s done. Love to see your process along the way but with so much time and effort going into the build I just want to linger a little longer and appreciate it all. Some more cinematic close ups, especially if you can set up a scene with some epic scale minis, would be amazing. Not to the same level of effort as the Heresy narrative stuff mind you. But please let me indulge a little more in this fantastic diorama I’ll never be able to see myself in person. Love your work mate

Brother you’re doing all the good! I like the break up of the videos, because I like the gradual process!
