She's right- former truck driver here. I eventually made no excuse for not going to the gym. Started carrying dumbells in the side compartment of my truck and every short rest stop was a mandatory set of pushups on the ground in front of the parked truck engine still running. That is exactly what you have to do. Corner yourself, remove all impediments and excuses. Make your life habits more inclined/conducive to a particular set of regular actions. This works. As the saying goes "what you do regularly is what you are becoming." Great content by the way. Subscribed.

Strange that if the gym is in your home you are LESS likely to do it, but if it is close by like a block or a few blocks away you are in fact MORE likely to do it. But (you knew there was a "but"), that all depends TOO on whether or not the exercise you have to do or plan to do for your goals is EASY or HARD. It is not the same motivation needed to do a series of sets of light (easy) squats, or deadlifts, than to do five max sets of it, like four or six sets of squats where the LAST rep of EACH set is hard to achieve... most people give up on that too soon. Same with the rest of it, like presses or flat benching. People "like" it that they have to do "body weight exercises" because once you dominate that weight, all you do is add reps, and adding a rep is easier than adding weight to the exercise. Still, most people don't go or stick to it at all. One of the best BUSINESS advice I ever heard or got from SUCCESSFUL people is that the fitness industry BUSINESS is for FIT people, not FAT people, the ones who already put some work and money into it, AND STUCK WITH IT FOR A LONG TIME, these are the ones more likely to stick to any program or invest and hire a trainer. Try changing a non-reader into a reader of MEANINGFUL books, or even the classics, it is a thankless and almost impossible task, once you leave them alone they never pick up a book again... but most people tell you when seeing you read how they would like to have time to read, or how important it is to read, or even take your time and sit to discuss the book you're reading.

@Abundantiaco3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much!! And yes, it's important to have even small micro-goals to help go towards success. For example, so many people start by saying "I'm gonna exercise for an hour a day starting tomorrow!", not realising how unrealistic it can be going from zero to something major like that. Sometimes, saying "I"m gonna do 10 minutes tomorrow" and building from there is much more likely to carry through, and continue.

I feel like I need to move out but then I need the income in order to move into a my dream space…. Hmmmm ….now, Imagine how difficult this must be for those who do not even have the privileges I do? Such as the systematically oppressed…

Changing your environment to motivate you completely makes sense. I recently started doing that with small task that need my attention. Such as bills, ordering school pics, a note to make a phone call, etc. I put them on the table next to where I sit. I recently started selling my baked goods, something I've been wanting to do for a really long time and I finally got the courage to put myself out there. I'm glad I did because it's doing really good. People are loving my breads so much they're telling their friends about them. I already have spices and other baking tools already out on my island counter so every time I walk by it motivates me to start baking. Thank you Sorelle for these videos and the encouragement. Or sometimes it helps me realize what I'm really doing is right and also work on things I need to improve on.

I’ll stand or sit staring at the their mess and skank wishing I lived somewhere else. (I’m a cleaner I have my own company so cleaning after their mess and skank is exhausting) anyway it’s so important our environments are inviting, clean and organised. As soon as I clean and de clutter everybody wants to get their projects out or start cooking an elaborate meal… it speaks for its self. I can’t wait to move out! Keep working hard and saving. I’ve been going to coffee shops or I sit in my work van and do business admin it’s an enjoyable routine now! Although costly… coffee man!!! But if I plan to do it at “home” I’m distracted and distressed by my environment and can’t focus. Have a fab day everyone! Xxx

Firstly, I wanted to say that your podcasts are great and congratulations on being recognised in a philosophy category. Secondly, the story about oset made my day, girl - I found it so funny. I thought about what you said in a few of your podcasts and yes, some people will be judging you all the time unfortunately. But, there are a lot of us here who truely appreciate what you. With every negative comment, there are also a lot of positive ones that supersede narrow-minded people you come across. I've recently found this quote by Lou Holz "Life is 10 percent what happens to you and ninety percent how you respond to it" - when something negative or annoying happens I challenge myself to be more curious about not only why people did this weird thing but also why I reacted in a particular way. It somehow helps. With this prelonged monologue I wanted to say that I appreciate all your ideas, determination, voice and being different. Pozdrawiam :).

This was such an insightful video, the first thing I noticed in your lounge was that you didn't have a TV either (neither do I) and it is so weird how many people find that absolutlelty astonishing, followed by, very often, "don't you get bored?" Erm ... nope. So much to think on and ponder, methinks a bit of reorganising this weekend to create a more optimal space to work in. Oh, and your Icelandic home is too lovely, I know you mentioned you wanted to downsize, but just think about all the wood and plants and natural light you currently have, those elements are very supportive to a growth mindset.

Yes. This is a part of what most people don't take into account because we are raised in still motion spaces we are not that likely to change. Yes. We can use and create our space for our future selves. This is crucial to work from authenticity of our subconscious support. Supportive subconscious can be told to do something once or twice. Yet, to sustain and power up things when we don't look (which is 80 - 95 % of the time) it has to have needs fulfilled alongside the things we want to do. I use it daily, more and more and I learn my self. Can totally recommend 👌

I see you're experimenting with a new style of editing, and I Like it ! About the desk, I did the same thing pretty much because I read it on Benjamin's Hards book Will power doesn't work, a highly recommended book. I have understood that in order for me to persevere in what I want to do, I must shape my environment to switch from doing tasks actively to doing them passively, which means less conscious mental effort. by reorganizing my house, my grades became a loot higher and I'm motivated to study every day for hours and it doesn't bother me 😂 I sleep better, since my room became a safe haven, soft light, no electronic devices.. and many other small details that influence our minds in a incredible way. I sum it up with: control the inputs to optimize the outputs. Through my experience, it was really THE thing to do in order to reach my goals.

I did these things too and they really help! I made my office really amazing to be in and brought my harp into the room. I also have a space to dance and record videos really easily. I get more actual work done, have a place to take dance breaks, and I can play music when I need to clear my mind before a deep work session.

what's wrong with facing my couch to watch the TV? I face my computer to watch the TV so i can multitask and do both at the same time.

Thanks for the insight doodette. Nice KZbin awards. Speaking of books Ryan Holiday - Courage is calling is out it’s on the way to my house.

I struggle with the "liking" part. What if you know what to do, you set up things to do it but don’t enjoy a bit doing it ? On the long term you don’t want to spend part of your life doing that thing any more.
@Abundantiaco3 жыл бұрын
I guess in that case, it's trying to find out how you can like it a little more. You might not be able to love it 100%, but what can you do to like it just a little more?

@@Abundantiaco right. I usually give it a long run until i get the results i wanted. Stubbornness helps :)

Found you and this video on my home page and even though I’ve never seen you before I just gotta say this is such a beautifully filmed video! And you have such a light and free personality and it’s so nice that you kinda sprinkle it in here and there throughout the video

OK, I have to thumbs up this. Heard something similar before but some events yesterday before watching the video just proved this shit really really works
