Elio Pace and the Billy Joel Songbook joined by guitar legend David Brown who played on most of Billy Joel’s hit albums and spent 14 years touring the world with him.
Filmed at the Leicester Square Theatre, London on the 13th May 2018.
I do not usually film in portrait but I wanted this short film to concentrate on David and his playing.

David Brown's tasteful playing has really helped Billy Joel's music to age well. While so many stars were hiring Cock Rock guitarists in the 80s, David Brown was always understated and melodic. Just listen to Kevin Dukes on the Kohuept album if you want to hear how things might have turned out. David Brown is a master musician who only ever plays what he needs to. Every solo he ever played for Billy Joel is singable. The man is great.

I met him and jammed with his brother John Perry that’s how I met David Brown I never believed him until back in the early 90’s I was in the vista hotel with him hanging out with David Brown after the concert and had his electric ovation guitar at my house

Love this song! I agree, Billy’s music lost its spark with the new band. I believe that is why he stopped recording. He did say he wasn’t satisfied with his writing. Of course, his band inspired him, especially Liberty!

Dave I love your guitar playing, man! I wish you were able to stay with Billy and his music has never been the same since Tommy 'took over'... we def don't need friggen Mike Deljudice or whatever his name is.. or Crystal. Just my opinion, though. you're listed as one of only a few guitarists who "cannot be emulated" along with les paul :)

It's a Kramer Classic III (I presume from the late '80s).
