This is my first attempt at the Automation Campaign! It went pretty well (i was playing on easy). This is a true spreadsheet simulator and your enjoyment of it entirely depends on how much you put into it.

I'm planning to try it eventually, some stuff I go into blind, like beamng updates, but this requires more research, so when I know what I'm doing I'll get into it. (did you know beamng got a update Wednesday?)

Yes, twice. First game I went bankrupt by 1980, the second one I played up till 98 and was decently in the green. Its suprisingly difficult to stay ahead of your expanses, but I found a workable strategy of selling hundreds of thousands of basic shitboxes amd postal vans in archana to finance my prestige projects to sell to fruinia, which would yield engine blocks that with some polishing would be able to power the next generation of my heavy utility vehicles. I suspect plannimg your projects to interlock and reduce expanses (especially on factory retooling) in this manner is the recepie for success.

One major effect I get from doing facelifts (especially no change/few change facelifts) is the car becomes significantly cheaper to produce the second time and can help you make more money and sell to more demographics. Especially after a few facelifts you can get into the budget markets as long as you don't add anything too expensive. I think it is because you have already "tooled" that factory for the car, so you can get much lower production costs and higher margins of profit for the same car. After while you get a debuff for age of body but for budget markets it hardly matters if its cheap to produce

when you wanted to do a new facelift, the car was still just in the engineering process, you were not making money, you have to wait until engineering is done to see profit, but you could do more models i guess. i didn't play much of the campaign, but you can give the same engine to another car if it's good and fast to manufacture, but usually in all my attempts engines were really slow to manufacture, so just play it and discover things, it may be fun

You will usually have a surplus of engines if you foreged parts, and in short supply if you want all fancy parts.

I think it would be cool to after take the car into beamng for a quick test (2 or 3 minutes) and then at the end put all the car you will have build trough the campaign and put em all side to side

I think it would have been a better idea to go with rear engine, it's cheaper and easier to produce, that looks like it's what the demographic wants, and you wouldn't need to move the engine back using a slider, that adds more engineering time and cost..

Haven’t watched the full video but I think in the future you should make a car with a turbo I3 made to complete with the Japanese sports cars of the early 90s

So what youve basically made is a Gasmean take on a 70s Ferrari 246 Dino GTS. A mid engined, rear wheel drive, convertible sports car with roughly 200 horsepower. The main difference is that yours leans far more into the luxury side of things, weighing in 180kg heavier than the Dino GTS. That being said I really like your Zebra SE!

Alao a tip. DAOHC gives familiarity (so a bonus to faster engineering) with dual overhead cam, so you can pivot to better engines for later projects, and keep some of the experience benefit.

I would over optimize each car to the point that I just flat out grind the game, and accidentally speed run it.

You didn't produce the car technically lol. The yellow bar is the engineering time, so technically that car would've released in 1978. Also the factory sliders for optimization and automation, just look at the totals at the bottom of the graph. You seemed to be looking at the numbers above the modifier and you said production units weren't changing but they actually doubled. Also a suggestion based on my preference in factory shifts, target 1-2 shifts, 1 for your kind of car but for a mass production vehicle I'd target 2 shifts or like 1.8 shifts and set the minimum to what you chose(0.5) and maximum to 2.5 in case you get behind. 3 shifts hasn't ever made me money yet. Also yes, mid engine RWD cars you want quite a bit smaller tires up front and brakes a little more rear biased than normal because the weight distribution. I play on a custom difficulty a little lower than hard, like hard with a little extra cash basically and no base tech advantages, and I operate on some cars the base model has like 7% profit margins and still making millions a month. I could sell them for more but I wanted to sell in quantity lol. But they definitely could make the graphs a little more user friendly if all the ? icons worked and maybe add some in other areas like factory settings.
