Saw the Birthday Party twice in London 1981 and 82, and they were utterly fearsome. Of course they didn't last, but on a good night they were one of the most exciting groups onstage. Tracy Pew and Roland S Howard were great, great musicians. R.I.P lads, you were up there with the very best.

@Chainsaw Aunt Sally You didn't, but society on the whole certainly would marginalize someone like him. Glad you didn't though.... sounds like you have good taste.

If this ain't rock'n'roll, then I don't know what is. "Six-Inch Gold Blade" must be one of the purest most primal rock songs that I've ever heard.

I often put Big Jesus Trashcan blasting in my car driving home from work and scream along with Nick Cave, esp the part @ 1.49 as it helps release the frustration of suffering yet another day working with the massive shit stain that is my manager!

@@oxygen69able Well, Scratch Acid must have been simultaneously active at the time (6 years before Jesus Lizard? )..I was familiar with David Yow at the time, and he was doing his own thing for sure. Never really put together the similarities either though, pretty uncanny, but a coincidence IMO..
