The British royals aren't even Windsors. They made that up too. They're actually Germans. Their last name used to be Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. They changed it to a British-sounding name in the lead up to WWII when hitler started going nuts. They didn't want to be associated with the Germans, so Viola! Now they are the Windsors. LOL

Great video! have you ever considered profiling Jeremy Brett? He was the actor who played Sherlock Holmes from the 1984 Granada series, he had bipolar disorder and he was also bisexual and his life was really interesting.

A small correction: Jeremy Brett portrayed the _definitive_ Sherlock Holmes of all filmed media. Though Ian McKellen was the definitive old Holmes in _Mr. Holmes_ (2015).

This has nothing to do with the video, but I feel like you would understand and I feel alone. I injured my foot, and I'm currently in a walking cast. I am currently going to school to become a veterinary technician, which requires a lot of hands-on work and standing. I walk a little bit, but I stay seated with my foot up as much as I can. People in my class have been telling me that I am fine because they saw me walking a little bit. They argue with me that I am not in pain. They have been making fun of me. I have never experienced this before because school has always been my safe space. We are all adults, by the way.

I've worked for 2 vets and have to say that vet techs are the heroes of a practice! When others deny your pain, tell them by that reasoning dogs and cats don't feel pain. Vivisection has been widely practiced for hundreds of years; the theory was that animals don't feel pain, which we know is entirely false. How can anyone know or rate your pain? To assume they know better than you is ableist , bullying and entitled. Talk to your instructors, get a doctor's note and complain to the administration about this. Don't be silent. You are worthy of consideration.

And I would really love to watch an Historical profile about Henry Favez, a badass, probably tans, doctor who left his small town in Switzerland to fight in Napoleonian wars, became a doctor and then went to Cuba to practice. I already know his life but hearing it narrated by you would be perfection.

Remember that Upstairs, Downstairs reboot with Keeley Hawes? I really thought that an affair between the husband and the Duke of Kent was where that was going. Would have been much more interesting than the Nazi little sister who learned that anti-Semitism is bad via the death of the Jewish maid. That show was a mess, but the dresses were pretty.

The British invasion of Iceland in WWII is seen pretty complexly from an Icelandic perspective! It was in a personal union with Denmark, and when the Germans occupied Denmark, the UK, for a lot of reasons, put soldiers in Iceland-to "ensure their freedom" and also to deny any chance of a useful North Atlantic German naval base. It quickly became untenable for the UK to hold Iceland, though, especially as it became clear the Germans didn't intend to take it anyway. So the UK passed it off to the US, who, many Icelanders will say, encouraged them to go back to their anti-monarchist roots and break apart from the Danish crown. So many Icelanders see it as part of their path to being an independent republic!

Does anyone ever actually utter these things? If so, I think it must be a very small minority of people, and since their views would best be described as being on the fringes, I'm not sure it matters too much. This seems to me to be another example of a fictional 'opponent', somehow lurking 'out there', against which we need to marshal our resources. Maybe that's how a lot of change takes place(??) Hmmm...

Did the UK, or any specific part of it, ever have laws mandating that severely disfigured disabled people not be allowed to be seen in public? I found out that such laws did exist in the US and the last state to abolish them didn't do it until 1974.
@hannahk1306
@hannahk1306 2 жыл бұрын
As far as I know, there weren't any laws. However, there was incredibly strong social pressure to give up disabled children (especially if they had any mental difficulties). Those children who were allowed to live - unfortunately many severely disabled children were left to die at birth - were sent away to residential homes. There's actually an interesting documentary about one of the Queen's own cousins who was born disabled and therefore sent away and never publicly spoken about.

Thank you Jessica for this series. I knew that James the first of England was bisexual (he had many male 'favourites' at court). So to learn about a prince in our recent history is wonderful x x x Noel Coward is famous for saying there should be a statue dedicated to Wallis Simpson in every town in England for her services in stopping Edward from becoming King. He was considered by many to be unfit for the role as he didn't take his offices seriously and would shirk a lot of his responsibilities

Oooh this one was good. I feel so bad for royals who cannot show their true selves. 🥺 It hurts my heart so badly. Even if they can get away with anything - except being part of the beloved alphabet mafia. I hope there's a day where royals can be truly open. There are many ways to protect the monarchy as far as line of succession goes. IVF, surrogates etc can help them have children that have their "bloodline" therefore protecting the monarchy from going to someone else.

Everyone, bi or not, including royals, should be able to not have children at all if they don‘t want children.

@@Alina_Schmidt I don't deny this, but at the same time you KNOW they want to protect the monarchy and to do so, they need children for that as far as it goes in today's time. That can change, obviously. But right now, they want their family's bloodline to take over the throne.
@JustAshley9685
@JustAshley9685 2 жыл бұрын
@@Alina_Schmidt Also, my comment wasn't to force kids on anyone. It was just a thought I had about an LGBTQ+ royal taking over the throne and how there are ways for them to protect their monarchy, obviously if they so choose. I wasn't saying they have to have children bc of course there are other options of royals who do have children that can take the throne... It was just a statement in support of someone who is in the LGBTQ+ community having a right to be in the line of succession and that there are ways they can produce children like most royals tend to do. So I don't understand why you had to comment like that. I wasn't saying that it's a set in stone thing that someone who doesn't have kids, nor wants them has to have them against their will. Sheesh.

@@princekrazie I'm inclined to agree with you because ordinary folks don't have the protection royals do regardless. But royals are still humans. None of them asked to be royal. So of course it's sad to me becuase they literally cannot show who they are nor marry who they love if it's a same sex partner or a Trans person and we all know it... And I feel like it should be okay to feel bad for anyone regardless of who they are and what their status is.

✨anyone knows of a good book about prince george that is as acurate and open about his life like this video? i would hate one where they don't even talk about his "scandalous life" and sexuality, basically making him straight and telling lies✨

A beautiful, intelligent redhead with great style and a sexy British accent..could Jessica be anymore perfect? 😍. She's adorable and I love watching her episodes. I love how she connects with her audience. As a KZbin content creator myself, I think she's inspiring.

This could not be better timed! I go to a drama club and we only have 4 rehearsals left so I needed something to listen to whilst I read my script again!

Wow! Some of that I knew from the kings speech but about John not George. Everything else was brand new to me. I wish they had included more diversity in the Crown and other films/shows. We got so much on Diana recently, how about stuff we don’t know? Just saying. Found this just now check it out for more info: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d3ybq2iYabN9adE The film The lost prince is also available on KZbin

José Evaristo Uriburu Roca was the grandson of two former Argentinian presidents (José Evaristo Uriburu and Julio Argentino Roca), and as you mentioned, the son of the first Argentinian embassador in the UK, José Evaristo Uriburu Tezanos Pinto. I'm Argentinian myself, so I was really surprised by the fact that he had had affairs with men, as we don't mention stuff like this when discussing the Uriburu family (it's full of bourgeois dictators, members of the Argentinian military). It's honestly quite fascinating from a historical point of view. Thank you so much for this video, it was very educational! PS: now that captions are up, I'd appreciate it if Uriburu's name could be fixed, as the spelling in the captions is wrong.

Omg a fellow Argentinian Jessica fan, hola!! I was very surprised when she mentioned José Uriburu but at the same time, not really. Somehow, someway, we always seem to be involved

@@maitesoto1953 Sí, apenas dijo "argentinian" yo paré la oreja pero la verdad no tenía idea de la historia de este Uriburu en particular, solamente me era familiar el nombre de José Félix, por el golpe de estado de la década del 30.

Related by grandparents isn't bad at all. Given it's still legal to marry your first cousin in Scotland. Actually know a couple who eloped got married and pregnant because their parents didn't agree. Turned out their mothers were siblings. They had two kids one my age and another a few years younger. They're still together 30years later as far as I'm aware.
