There's a huge psychological problem that comes with massive weight loss like that, and I guarantee is what happened to Greek. All your insecurities become more highlighted, because now you realize people judge you on your character first and no longer your appearance. Everybody treats you differently after weight loss, and it's very hard to come to terms with it. It makes you an extremely jaded person if you don't handle it well. And most of all: It's downright infuriating to constantly be told that you're a different person now. You're the same person you were before, you're just healthy. But everybody swears you're different, and it effectively gaslights you. Losing that much weight causes massive psychological problems if you don't deal with it well.

He just got overly lonely. That's exactly what happened. He never once felt like that he was truly part of any of the groups he drifted between, but that he was an outlying 'friend' that was expendable to the group. Whenever he'd leave one of these groups and they could continue their lives, it would reaffirm in his mind that he was right, that he was expendable. This damaged mindset continued to fester and boil until he became the incredibly jaded, friendless person that he is. At that point, the weird content and controversial takes are just a product of a mentally self-isolated man. His paranoia born of lonliness is what destroyed him. Many of us go through it all the time, he unfortunately was broadcasting the insecure spiral to the world, where as most people do it quietly and privately. It's sad in a way, but he's beyond the point of being salvaged. He needs outside help, someone to grab on and refuse to let go until he's better, but nobody would ever do that considering where he mentally is now. It's over for him.
@SneakyG592 жыл бұрын

Been watching Greek since the Tyler1 days on H1Z1.. This video is brilliant. Really does show how much hard work, sweat and tears this guy put into climbing the Twitch ladder. Not many others could do what he has done. It defiintely seems like at the time he had the idea, knew what to do to get that and completed his goal. The weight loss is a huge accomplishment. Maybe all the years of being a comedian has finally caught up to him. He's achieved those goals he had set out. One of the most annoying things when you're in a weird head space is having to read and listen to what other people think. It's horrible to think maybe where you are, isn't actually the right frame of mind. At the end of the day, Greek has done amazing things. I really hope he is happy in whatever he does from here on. Deserves it. The amount of joy and happiness he has given to others in the earlier days to now without any of the recent drama and questionable speeches etc. Everyone in that line of work seems to need a break now and then, I feel like he's been acting for so long that he's now only figuring out what he truely wants. I'm not a frigging psychiatrist. Just a guy that cares. Must be hard at the end of the day to deal with the harsh words/opinions of others, surrounding recent events. Even if it's from your own actions.. As much as you don't want to listen to it all, I'm pretty sure that the majority of people would like to see Greek happy again and not so muddled. (I say muddled, he might be happy, but it doesn't come across that way with all of the life talks etc...) Fingers crossed for ya Greek, with whatever you do from here, take a breath and enjoy the little things. Set new goals, and do you. :) I should take my advice and do the same! Haha. Best of luck. :)

So I've never actually watched Greek, I've always had a very loose understanding of who he was as an online personality, and I'm not claiming to have any of the answers for anyone. These are just my thoughts, so take them with a handful of salt. I think a large part of the issue here is how his channel got started. Because he initially began his "career" as a known and despised stream sniper, he probably attracted a very particular kind of audience (people who make a diet of watching toxic content as entertainment). As he began to blow up, he was still "imperfect" enough for his audience to love him, and as he started partnering with other streamers his audience grew beyond his initial demographic. Problem is, as Greek started to work on himself and attempt to become a better person, the bulk of his old demographic started losing the things they originally loved about him considering they made a connection between him losing weight/being more outgoing with him losing what originally made him appealing. Sure, plenty of people were happy that he lost weight and began to branch out and make more relationships with people, but there was clearly a very vocal group of people that wanted the "classic" Greek back. What I think they wanted back was the same chaotic, toxic content. A lot of the fans that came in after he started becoming popular are a bit more tame than his initial demo, and therefore had a different way of looking at how Greek had changed. They didn't mind the change in content, they just genuinely cared about him. It seems like the toxic fans that were no longer getting their preferred content (a fat guy stream sniping people and generally being annoying and toxic) added a lot of pressure to an already stressful career that I'm not sure Greek was expecting. I think he expected to have fun trolling and goofing off with buddies, but I don't think he anticipated all of the thankless work that goes into professional streaming. Having to fight his own audience on top of everything else going on in his life probably broke him. I think he may be trying to cater to that old demographic with edgier content these days, in an effort to reclaim what made him big in the first place. But this isn't his account of things, it's someone else's video of their perception of the events (and only the ones that were made public). And like I said, I've never actually watched a ton of his content, and I don't know him well enough to understand how to frame his pretense. These are just thoughts, not meant as a diagnosis. I strongly dissuade _anyone_ from taking _any_ portion of this and running with it as if it's factual. Only Greek understands what's happening to him right now. We all know how his behavior makes us feel, but we have never truly known him (and I don't mean that in a negative or positive way, simply speaking of the potential unknown). That would be naively para-social for any of us to assume.
@pies-of-pain28772 жыл бұрын
This is a great comment and it really does seem like it's reminiscent of many other "edgier" creators who have come and gone. Honestly Ice Poseidon went through something similar because the type of edgy/annoying people content he made attracted the worst kinds of people and them and the streamer just sort of fed into each other, and most people don't even consider other factors in the background like life and job stress on top of that. People like Greek or Ice don't even really have the luxury of being depressed about it because of well...what they sort of surrounded themselves with would leap down their throats if they ever go public with it. "Live by the sword, die by the sword" indeed.
