Outside of Star Trek , Mission Impossible and Nickelodeon, Paramount simply does not have enough IP in house that still resonates with the public to make a Theme Park work. They would have to emulate Universal and license IP elsewhere to create a fully fledged theme park

I would be down for the Rango and sleepy hollow section. Rango is an amazing underrated movie and I love Tim Burton’s Sleepy Hollow. They could have also included a sleepy hollow dark ride with practically sets and animatronics. I enjoyed the honey I shrunk the kids play area in Disney world so I would definitely enjoy the Rango section. It’s so cool feeling like you have shrunk down to a small size. Actually Disney could do a play area for the ant man franchise.

It kind of sucks that this never ended up happening, though I can understand why they had to reach for the bottom of the barrel for IPs. Viacom as a whole has a bigger catalog of IPs to work from, and it would have saved them a lot of time if they just used Nickelodeon. I do like the ambition of using IPs such as Star Trek, Titanic, and Mission Impossible, but those three IPs could not have carried an entire park.

While I agree the choice of IP was largely baffling, I would chalk most of it down to Paramount just not having all that many "hot" properties beyond Star Trek and MI. And if we're honest, most of Disney and Universal's expansions over the past decade have been based on IPs that weren't their original creations either. Marvel, Star Wars, Avatar, Cars, Toy Story (both Pixar pre-Disney acquisition) ... I can only think of Frozen and Seven Dwarves Mine Train being popular new attractions that are based on original Disney IP. Likewise for Universal, whose two biggest wins of the past decade were Harry Potter and Nintendo, although they also had Jurassic Park/World and Despicable Me as major homegrown offerings.

If this hadn't been cancelled would Rango's West have been given the love and care it would have needed or would Paramount have allowed it to become as outmoded as Frontierland? ReviewTyme underestimates the appeal of Rango. Given that it's a loving parody of Spaghetti Westerns, it did have the potential to be one of the most visited parts of the proposed theme park because _a lot_ of Spaghetti Westerns were filmed in Spain.

As a spaniard, this was a big failure from the start, not only did Paramount learned nothing from their time with Terra Mitica, but the corruption from spanish politicians and money grubbing companies and wanting to build this park in the middle of a fucking desert with little worldwide (or heck, even spanish) tourism just was gonna make this the biggest failure in a country with BIG theme park failures. m glad it never happened as a spanish theme park fan. Its a pity that Eurodisney was not build in Gandia as proposed at first and shitty politics made the project go finally to Paris, becuase that move would have changed the way we view theme parks in spain, and the politic corrputions surrounding it (also would have made Eurodisneyland succesful from the start, but thats an altarnate timeline). BTW I think people here are overexagerating the problems of Titanic being a ride. Are we forgetting Titanic is a major blockbuster movie that was once in history the most money making movie ever, and that was PURE entertainment (you dont have a guy hitting a boat propeller while his falling for education purposes), Are we forgetting before James Cameron's Titanic there were multiple Hollywood Titanic movies done for entertainement (with some of theme just mere years acter the catastrophe?) are we forgetting Titanic has been used as entertainment in thousands of books and videogames. Are we forgetting theres an actual Titanic "museum" going around the world that has a gift shop at the end? Are we forgetting all the catastrophees that have been made movies AND rides? or do you think that Earthquake and its section on the Universal tram was just based on a movie? Dont you forget USA, in a hundred years, you are going to have movies of pure entertainment about the twin towers, and nobody is gonna give two damns, at least its not gonna be worse that using that as an excuse to start a neverending war with the middle east. Oh and huge disrespect against Stardust in the video. Is an absolute fantastic fantasy movie everyone should watch.

Because of the film and because many couples were torn apart in the tragedy. That kind of puts the tragedy in nutshell if there is a couple that the audience can relate to and it's more filmic, and therefore more friendly for a theme park. I think with the ride they were trying to be more respectful about it than other iterations while still being kind of disrespectful. I guess there's no way to do it without being disrespectful.
