The Black Cat, in my opinion, is still the best of the Boris/Bela team-ups, with the possible exception of Son of Frankenstein. It is ONLY film where Boris and Bela were pretty much equal in terms of character, screen presence, and script. I figure, don't watch this one for the plot - there really isn't one. Call it a day in the life and enjoy the atmosphere.

Good call on not watching it for the plot! It's been so fun to see these 2 great actors work together!

Karloff always got top billing in their pair-ups... but the next one they did, "The Raven," was clearly Lugosi's film, though he still couldn't get the Hollywood image mill...and producers...to give him the credit he deserved as THE star. Karloff was indeed the better, more nuanced actor. But "The Raven" gypped Lugosi this time around.

Bela was also awesome in The Invisible Ray where he was kind of a good guy. When he asked Karloff's character if he ever thinks as he once did I could feel the emotion. These old movies have been so fun to discover! Thanks for watching and commenting!
