How do you think the world would fare if a similar plague were to hit us today?

I would've thought that modern medicine and logistics would be a powerful defense against such a thing. But after the last couple years I'd wager it'd hit us pretty damn hard still.

@@anneliasson2585 I agree. While Covid 19 does share some similar symptoms, namely fevers, chills, etc, one is a bacteria and one is a virus. However, either way, both are not something that anyone would want anyways.

I cover this topic as well both in my classes and in my channel. I think one of the most interesting topics to explore is the psychological reactions. Many of the "cures" were irrational, In Strasbourg 1000's of Jews were massacred. If you think about it human nature reacts irrationally when things go south. There are many examples of that in History.

To me one of the interesting Parts is all the good that came from the plague. It basically ushered in the Renaissance age. People started thinking more freely and asking questions as to why this could happen.

If a similar plaque happened today and killed one third of people, the society affects would possibly be worse. Most people get their food from a great distance and most logistics would collapse. The affect of a modern Black Death would be very far reaching.
